1990 Ewing = when he became a man. The chronic tendinitis really affected his knees for most of the 90s but he was a beast in those playoffs. Was noticeably quicker and more explosive than in '92-'95.
Yea I was glad he fell to me. I figured Melo would pick up Ewing and I would get Robinson (speaking of that I think Barkley was a reach with the 3rd pick, but thats just me). I figured that he had his best stats (with a ridiculous 4 block a game), was all-NBA 1st team, and was 27, which is generally when a player is in his over-all prime.
Barkley was fine at #4. He actually played defense that year, was a great "big game" player, had elite stats and came a couple of clutch MJ/Paxson plays from winning in the finals. There actually isn't much separating the players after the clear top 2, and maybe Shaq. D-Rob is great, but in the playoffs it's a different story. I was considering taking him because I think on the right team where he doesn't have to do as much offensively he could be really deadly and more realiable, but the playoff card is too easy to bring up with him.
Glad you picked up Ewing. He definitely deserved to be picked near the top.
Yea I pretty much had to pick Ewing. It was a gimme pick.

I wouldn't say Barkley was a bad pick, but within this draft your better served to get a top-4 C (Shaq, Hakeem, Ewing, Robinson) with your first round pick if possible to put yourself in the best position to win. It's just my opinion that you start your team with a Center first if possible. (unless the talent gap between the best Center compared to the best player available is enough to justify picking the other player)
Robinson's always had a bit of an issue in the playoffs and being a certified #1 guy. He was a specimen and brought it on both sides of the court and had gaudy numbers to show, as most of these guys do, but the personality is a bit of a question mark. Great person, but didn't have the killer instinct of the other guys we're talking about up here.
Of course now that Malone's gone, that's another guy I love trashing about finishing lol. I kinda feel bad when it's Robinson, but the Mailman? The gloves come off :)
Of course again we gotta consider that it was the 90s and everyone at some point was losing to MJ....
