The ***** envy for ND is ridiculous. The obsession continues...

IF USC loses next week Michigan will play Ohio State in a rematch. Michigan will be rated higher than ND and the SEC schools have played by far the weakest out of conference schedules. Both Arkansas and Florida were extremely lucky to beat a South Carolina team that had multiple walk-ons starting for them.

Speaking of which, Spurrier to Miami is the big rumor. I can't see it happening but anything is possible when it involves Spurrier.

I was rootin for Michigan to win this one, but a rematch would be awful. Even though OSU only won by 3, they were outplaying Michigan the entire game, and the game was a lot of more one-sided than the final score indicated. If USC loses, they should let Florida or Notre Dame in the title game. No one wants to see a damn rematch (except Michigan fans)

In a move that would shake college football, South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier has been targeted as a leading candidate to succeed Larry Coker should he be dismissed as Miami head coach, a source close to the situation said Sunday.

Coker is expected to be fired after Thursday's game against Boston College.

Miami president Donna Shalala had hoped Coker could win the final two games of the season and then could argue to bring him back. But at 5-6 and with the team in danger of missing a bowl, influential trustees and boosters have begun inquiring about prospective replacements and identified Spurrier, the former Florida coach, as the top choice with the goal of making a splashy hire.

A person close to Spurrier said he is interested in the position largely because he can compete in the state of Florida against his former school and believes he could win a national championship there.

Spurrier makes about $1.3 million a year at South Carolina and has 5 years remaining on his contract. Miami would likely be able to pay him at least $500,000 a year more annually.

Miami is scheduled to play at Florida on Sept. 6, 2008 in what could potentially pit Spurrier against Urban Meyer. The return date is scheduled for 2013 at Miami.

Miami also plays at Oklahoma on Sept. 8, 2007. Spurrier is close with Sooners coach Bob Stoops, his former defensive coordinator at Florida.

Joe Schad is ESPN TV's national college football reporter.

If USC beats Notre Dame it'll probably impress more than UF beating Arkansas, so that'll give them the edge...conversely, ND beating USC may just give ND the edge over Florida or Arkansas. Either way, it's seeming more likely to me that the SEC gets left out.

Just announced Michigan remains at #2 in the BCS. They're at .926 and USC is at .919. USC wins next week they should be in.

USC/Ohio State will be as good of a matchup as any that could be made. If you want to get mad at something, get mad at the lack of a playoff system.

It could be. I'm not sure that Florida is capable of generating enough points to keep it close but they have a great d. They'd have to keep Smith under 30. I doubt that they can...but if they beat Arkansas and FSU they deserve a shot. Stupid BCS. Oh well.

If FSU wasnt such a damn joke this yr (and lately) those two wins would have them in the national title game.
