Might get out of the first round finally now that the balance of power has shifted east. Suns - No Amare. Jazz - No Boozer.
That is a point I don't think enough people are talking about, just the superteam in Miami. Not only did you have so many major pieces added to East teams but the top 3 draft picks as well. So it's looking good for the East long and short term.
Every other team can eat a dick. Having "2nd teams" or whatever you want to call it is as bad as bandwagon hopping.
Think of it like this. If you your team isn't doing shit, and you know they aren't going to be doing shit, is it ok to root for another team to win the title? It's not like you totally abandoning your team.

Not to me. But I'm no one to be telling people how and where to apply their fanhood, I feel like I've already overstepped my bounds. My bad.

Gotcha. I'm rooting for Miami because I don't have a team. Literally. My favorite players (well, 2 of them anyway) are on one team so why not. But, to each his own.

It's just your opinion and it's ok. You're the old-school fan, where you stand by your team no matter what. Some people are the new-age fan, where they stand by a player wherever they go. Personally, I don't think one is better than the other. I think, unless you have been raised to like/love a particular team, it is much easier to identify and love a player. Like for somebody just coming into an interest for the league, it would be more understandable for them to find a player they really like as opposed to a team.
I never really understood the hometown team/geographically closest team to you thing. I think it lacks a lot of logic and people just do it because that's how history has typically presented acceptable fandom. So I should just like a team because they are in my town, even if I don't have any attachment or appeal to the team's style/players on it? To me that is stupid. If I like Kobe/Wade/Bron, I am going to root for the team they are on because they interest me, not some team that is in my hometown (or state) to save face with fans who think they can judge other people because they were born and raised team "x" fans.
As long as you stick by whatever team/player you are a fan of, through their ups and downs, you are a real fan to me. I just don't see how that logic isn't true. And this applies to other teams/players you may like. If your team/player loses, but you really like another team/player, having supported them secondary to your own team, then I see nothing wrong with supporting them after your team has failed either. It is something that is organic, not contrived from social expectations. If you like a team/player, you like them, simple and plain. If you just jump the bandwagon onto whatever is hot because you just want to cheer on a winner, then yeah, that is an insult to that fanbase and deserves no respect in recognizing you as a fan of that team/player.
Everybody is a fan in their own way. You love the Pacers and that is the only team you will ever root for and you don't care for individual players on other teams, that's fine, I wasn't trying to attack you for that. I'm just saying that I think there are several ways you can be a true fan, even of more than one team/player, and if that's the way you feel (You love watching them play, you get mad/sad/happy when they lose/win), then that's that.
1.Heat-Favorite players and I love the whole "evil trio" thing that has been created. I love to see the bad guys win so I'm hoping they dominate to be honest.
1.Blazers-Lots of memories from my hometown are there.
3.Boston-Grew up KG/Ray.
4.Bulls-I like Noah and wish I had game like DRose
5.Thunder-I'm still bitter but I love the way they play.
