Free-agent center Jermaine O’Neal is leaning toward signing a contract with the Boston Celtics, but still hasn’t reached a final decision, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

O’Neal, 31, has narrowed his choices to the Celtics and Denver Nuggets, sources said. The Dallas Mavericks have been a strong consideration, too.

Wojnarowski also reports that Boston’s offer is for the mid-level exception (roughly $5.8 million) for each of the next two seasons.

This is a good pickup considering who’s out there for big men. I like that he can play defense and DOESN’T roam the arc *cough* Sheed *cough*

No idea what his personality is like around vets, but I hope it works out. If he acts up when Perk gets reinserted into the starting five, that could get interesting…

He's a good 15/8-10 every game or other. Good pick!

I don't think he has that much mileage on him even if he entered right out of HS. Injuries took him out of the top 10 PF contention a few years ago.

He has been in the league for 13 seasons, and it'll be his 14th this coming season with the Celtics. Now I'm wondering if he'll be doggin' it since he's making a lot less money and retirement is probably not that far off.

He can dog it all he wants, Doc will sit him. He did it to Pierce [a top 5 swing-man at the time], he'll do it to a crippled JO without thinking twice.

It sounded like he'll give it his all and that he came here to get a ring. Here's hoping he does well!
