Re: BREAKING NEWS: Jazz Sealing the deal to get Al Jefferson
I'm interested to see this work out.
1) Millsap and Jefferson will both start, at least until Okur is back from his injury.
2) Jefferson can't run the pick and roll like Boozer, but maybe his more dominant back-to-the-basket game will make up for that.
3) Both he and Boozer rebound well, and in the same style. Boozer may be better fundamentally (boxing out, hands above shoulders), but there shouldn't be too much of a difference.
4) Will he take plays off defensively to stay out of foul trouble? If so, he'll meet the bench.
5) Boozer could pass. Jazzmen generally pass well...
6) He's a bit bigger/longer than Boozer. Hopefully he enjoys being a physical player in a physical system.
7) He's used to cold weather and small markets. That's a plus.
8) He's not as straight laced as Boozer. DUIs will ruin you in the fan's eyes.
9) Is he going to be a long term center? Or is he going to try to slim down for the 4 position?
10) Boozer was a proven playoff performer. How will Al react when he is making into the second or third round?
Re: BREAKING NEWS: Jazz Sealing the deal to get Al Jefferson
Very pleased with this. In the end what would you rather, pay Al Jefferson $42 million of Wesley Matthews $35 million? It's funny because Kevin O'Connor was talking about how teams hardly ever use trade exceptions and most expire and now we've seen a bunch of moves made by teams that have trade exceptions.
Hopefully they can still pick up Ronnie Brewer as well if he doesn't sign with Chicago. Roger Mason might be a better fit now though.

Near zero. He's an overpaid shooting big man who went through a very serious injury and hasn't even recovered to 75% yet. Nobody has a clue if he'll even get back to where he used to be at.
Can't trade him for a sack of pennies until he's healthy.
Re: BREAKING NEWS: Jazz Sealing the deal to get Al Jefferson
If the Jazz get Jefferson, they will be back in the game. The change of scenery will do wonders for Al Jefferson, he always had the talent to be a top big man in the NBA but I think the hell hole called Minnesota has held him back. This will give the Jazz more options offensively then they had with Boozer cause with Jeff you can throw it down low to him and let him go to work or have him throw it back out to open shooters or you can run the patented Jazz pick and roll and get easy buckets from that. I'm sure Deron will be very happy with this move getting another young stud that will be there for years to come that hasn't even touched his prime years yet, I'm sure he will now think about signing an extension with the Jazz down the road because of this acquisition.

The first option you mentioned is going to be awesome. I love watching Al's patience in the paint, ball fakes, and footwork.
But I didn't think he can pass out of the double team, and I didn't think he could handle a pick and roll very well.
