the spurs are boring, but effective as a team

their fans love them as winners; no one else cares much to watch them

i agree, one of the worst teams to bare watching. and sumbody tell Ginobli that all those oscar winning falls are best kept on the soccer field. This is a real mans sport

Spurs can make a fun to watch team play boring as well as they're defense is too good.

They only person I see on that team that dunks is Duncan and they aren't flashy dunks.

But thats how Poppovich (larry brown type) coaches. Can't argue with them as long as they win. but yes they are boring to watch.

I dont know how they get fans at their games.

soccer is way more physical demanding than basketball. not even comparable.

its because the spurs are the ONLY professional sports franchise in the city. San Antonio ranked what, 7th? 8th? in terms of population...a city of that size and only one sports team is why we have so many fans. rainerbeachpoet made a thread about this on the main basketball board and it seemed like it was a 50/50 reponse. half liked watching the spurs and the other half didnt. its all about personal preference.

we here in San Antonio love the spurs with a passion. come down here during playoff time...its ridiculous.

true that...

the cities that only have one sport have the most rabid fans

san anton
sacramento
portland
oklahoma
utah
toronto
charlotte

its understandable

from that thread, i thought that most would be indifferent toward the spurs. i really dont think there are any strong feelings. perhaps with dallas or houston because of the in-state rivalry

some guys like 1 on1 street ball and some remember that the object of the game was to win. The differance between those love and understand the game of basketball and those frome the A.D.D. generation that demand someone "entertain" them at all times.
