Stallone actually can be in the right role. He was nominated for an oscar and rightfully so for the first Rocky. He was great in First Blood and surprisingly, in the drama Cop Land in 1997.

Besides, he has played two of the most iconic movie characters of all time so he must be doing something right.

Stallone? No, he's terrible most of the time. His elegant down syndrome style of acting doesn't do it for me. Rocky is iconic, though I find it overrated, but I don't see it for Rambo. It's been a while seen I've seen them, but I thought the first one was borderline retarded. It always came off way too cheesy to me, and Jesus, I could buy into JCVD's movies... I'm not a Stallone fan at all, but he has some movies I like.

I thought the Rambo movies were much better than most action films. While I do like good one-liners in action movies, I appreciated that Rambo didn't have them because when you think about them, they're pretty absurd. And while some laugh at how implausible they are, they're certainly no less plausible than the Die Hard movies and easily more plausible than James Bond movies.

First Blood(Rambo 1) I thought was great, very dark and I thought Stallone was perfect in the role. I guess everyone sees movies differently, but I loved the scene in the police car with Teasle(Brian Dennehy). I thought that was probably his best acting.

The second movie was more straight forward action, but among the best in the genre. The action scenes are great. Stallone doesn't say much in the movie, but it's easily one of my favorite action movies. When i think of ass-kicking 80's action movies, the first 2 that come to mind are Rambo 2 and Commando.

Rambo is very, very far from being one of the better action films (you have to consider that various genres like most War movies and Westerns are also action films). Rambo 2 and Commando certainly aren't the ones that come to my mind when I think of ass-kicking 80's action movies. I don't care for Rambo and Commando is one of Ahnold's weaker movies. Predator, Terminator and Die Hard are the ones that spring to mind for me.

Commando is a classic as far as over the top 80's action movies. Extremely entertaining, IMO. My favorite Arnold movie is Total Recall, though.

But everyone has different tastes, I love the other movies you mentioned. I've owned all of them for years. Another 80's classic in the genre is Lethal Weapon.

I admit that Stallone has been awful in some movies like The Specialist, Judge Dredd, Rhinestone, Stop Or My Mom Will Shoot, but I really think he did an excellent job in First Blood. That had a lot more drama and depth than most action movies, IMO. I agree that Rambo 2 wouldn't be one of "the best", but as far as just great action and as a fun movie to watch, it's probably my favorite.

If we're counting Westerns, then I'd throw a lot in there. The Good, the Bad and The Ugly, Once Upon A Time In The West, The Searchers, The Magnificent Seven ect.

There are some other movies I would've mentioned, but I didn't know if they were action movies in the sense that most were thinking of like Dirty Harry, Death Wish, Bullitt and The French Connection which are some of my all time favorite movies.

I like Commando, but it's a bit too cheesy. "I eat Green Berets for breakfast. And right now, I'm very hungry!"

Those one-liners are one of the reasons it's so entertaining to me. "Please don't disturb my friend, he's dead tired" and "Let off some steam, Bennett!" The villain looked like Freddy Mercury.
