Default 50 MPG and not a hybrid?

http://www.popularmechanics.com/cars...diesel/4235586

VW Jetta's equipped with diesel motors have been capable of 50 mpg for years now, just poor marketing by VW. I don't think i have to mention the advantages a diesel motor verses that of a hybrid's.

plus its a lot cheaper in many cases. also if you are into the whole save earth thing doesnt have a big battery to deal with once the life of the car is over.

there are a ton of cars that get great mpg. heck look at all the cars over in Europe. the reason why are they not over here? people want power over mpg it seems.

acceleration and the occasional 100mph+ ride late at night.
my sisters 06 honda can do 100+ but it accelerates so sloooooow and it's a manual transmission as well. unless i'm letting it rev to 8k rpm before i shift, i ain't keeping up with traffic

you need power in Germany when you have BMW/Mercedes going 140mph on the left lane. You don't need power to go 80.

I remember reading a lot of car reviews when deciding to buy my first car a few years back, how come none of the reviews mentioned Jetta's 50 MPG.

you can pretty safely go 130 or 140 mph on a German autobahn. 160 is reckless though, I agree.
Lucky for you to be still alive after being in a wreck going 160, too
