How does the HOF criteria work?
Looking at some numbers here of RS and MI. Irvin of course got in at the 3rd time of asking but had terrible character and a slew of brushes with the law whereas Smith was a undrafted Free agent who is known to be one of the better charcter guys in the NFL. Their numbers don't seem a million miles apart and Irvin of course played with one of the GOAT RB's, O-lines and Aikman who is no mug whereas apart from Elway who else on the bronco sb winning teams is going to make the HOF?
Rod Smith - 849 rececptions, 11389 yards, 68 TD.
Michael Irvin - 750 receptions, 11904 yards, 65 TD.
Is there specific criteria or does it just go off of the voters gut feelings? Do you have to play for set # of seasons, have xyz yards per reception/run, do SB wins enter into the equation, TD's?
