Raptor fans should have seen the goods and the bads from Belinelli last season. While it didn't show up often enough, but when he was hot he was like a poor man's Ray Allen. But again, "didn't show up often enough" is the key.
But since they got Leandro, there will be no place of Marco. Wright is decent but how much play time will he get.....
i like this trade for both parts, although it is nothing to get excited about, it's even kind of irrelevant from Toronto's point of view as I don't see Wright being of any importance in their rotation.
I am hoping Marco gets a chance to build some confidence because he is very talented, and much more than just a shooter.
Nice. Marco or Thornton (since Marco gives them better size for the starting 5) will be a good sixth man for the Horntes and now CP3 has some legit shooters to dish it to.
Bellinelli / Thornton
Ariza / Stojakovic
Okafor / Gray
Unless they get a real backup PG, I think Thornton should start.
I like Thornton to play off the ball with CP and Marco to be the combo off the bench a la Pargo. Don't like Thornton being on the floor without a good PG. It's like asking Rip Hamilton to run the point.
Why does Toronto do this deal? Aren't they both on rookie contracts? Both third year players? Wright makes a bit less but come on, Belinelli is shooting almost 40% on threes for his career.
Simple answer, they have no athleticism or defense at the 3 with Kleiza and Belinelli. They have a logjam at the 2, MB's natural position, with Weems,Derozan and Barbosa as well. Wright makes a lot more sense to back up Kleiza.
