haha...funny this thread came up, I'm on a bidding war at this very moment for the VModa Crossfade M-80 on eBay.
I tried the previous VModa at an Apple Store a few months ago, and I dug them just didn't like them enough for the price (at the moment). But these have been praised as the best portable cans out and far superior than the VMOdas I sampled. Hopefully they live up to their hype.
I love my Superlux, but those are for mixing as they're reference headphones. They're also too big and bulky to be portable. My Sen PX 100i, sound good enough, but are very uncomfortable. So much that they gave me pain... very painful and uncomfortable to listen use. And because they're so thin and light, they keep moving on my bald head, never staying in place and at times just coming off when I walk even at a slow pace.
I've heard a little bit about "breaking-in" headphones, but is that actually true?
The frequency response on the drivers has been scientifically proven to change, but the effect is so subtle it's not worth mentioning. Most of the time it's your brain and ears adjusting to the sound rather than the actual break-in.

Also, I can't believe a thread about headphones is this long.
There's a forum entirely dedicated to headphones which is bigger than our ISH itself.

Although it's late and you've probably used yours already, yes, headphones sound better broken in. It's more prevalent in earbuds, but I would just hook it up to an iPod and keep it running all night for about ~20 hours.
