I agree with Marlo's points, Big Skinny. Your receivers are stacked. Is this a PPR league (point per reception)? If so, you should be in good shape.

Running backs are your weakness. Felix Jones is not a good No. 2. I had him a couple of years ago and he took a No. 2 on my season. Constantly injured, plays sparingly, is prone to fumble...

He sounds like a really good pick on paper and you see him make a spectacular 60-yard run and say, "Wow"... However, once you have to deal with him over the course of an entire season, you will end up hating his guts like I do.

If he gets over 10 carries in a game, he will end up limping off or being carted off of the field. Wait and see.

Hightower is also a problem at the flex. Chris Wells is going to be a monster this year. I always knew that Wells was the perfect prototypical NFL running back. At around the middle of last year, he began to show it and really never looked back.

Wells is one of the best young RBs in the entire NFL. Hightower will be -- at best -- a third down guy. If you want to win the league, you will probably have to upgrade this position at some point down the road. The good news is, there are always surprises at the RB position. Keep your eye on the injury report... If any big names go down, jump on the waiver wire and get their backup immediately.

Or, you have so many great receivers, you could get a really great No. 2 RB in return for a guy like Jennings or even Harvin depending upon how his migraine thing works out.

I love your QB and TE. I had both Rivers and Celek last year and both produced incredibly for me. Rivers is automatic... Money in the bank. It was 20+ points from him every week.

Celek was so good for me that, at the end of the year, I traded him to get Ricky Williams -- who played like a No. 1 RB in the second half of last season.

Your bench is a little thin (again, especially at RB), but not knowing what was available to you late in the draft, it is hard to say if those were actual mistakes or just taking what was left.

It is always a good idea to take your No. 1 RBs backup.

Overall, that is a very good team that, with a few tweaks, should contend for the top prize. Nice work.

My most competitive league I play in is 12 teamer, with 3 IDPs, and it we start QB-WR-WR-WR-RB-RB-RB-WR/RB-TE-DEF-K-DL-LB-DB. This will be the fifth year and I've won it twice before including last year. Every year we make more modifications so this year they implemented an extra RB spot. I was not involved with the decision making process because they all hate on me, since I crush, but all good nonetheless.
Have you ever done an auction draft? I was reading a Bill Simmons article a few weeks ago and he broke down how it works... Sounds incredibly interesting. Simmons swears by it and says that those of us still doing the traditional draft are seriously missing out.

percy is risky, he apparently fainted at prac today so i dunno what to think

i'm praying somehow the chargers sign mcneil and vjax

i got cincinn D in like 14th round and celek in like 8th. both huge steals IMO

what do you think about tashard choice? should i get him instead of schilens. i want to hold onto dthomas cuz he is havin a good camp/preseason and could easily be the #2 by opening day
I like Choice. He's been very productive when he's been on the field. The problem is he's 3rd on the depth chart and the Cowboys have so many weapons. I just don't see him being a great handcuff but not a bad one necessarily either.

I've heard that Thomas has had a bad offseason, although its common to hear tons of conflicting reports around this time of the year. He has missed 3 straight practices, so take that FWIW. If Mike Williams of the Bucs is on your waiver wire, I'd pick him up in a heart beat and drop Thomas.

As the season plays out you'll definitely be able to find a good flex option.

If you're winning a championship with an autodrafted team you either got EXTREMELY lucky, you're playing in a really soft league, or you really know how to manage your team within the seasons (i.e. trades, waiver wire, etc).

I never said anything in regards to comparing it poker, not sure why you're asking me to be honest, I always am,

Yes I'd say the skill to luck is somewhat similar but it's still hard to compare luck in a card game to luck in fantasy football. In a sense sure you can get unlucky but over the course of the season the same way you'd look at a significant sample of hands played it will provide analysis.

Anyway I'm playing 2-4, sitting close to 900 bucks. I bought in under rolled to the game after my buddy dragged me there. It was honestly a miracle that I even had a stack after enduring some of the beats that had been laid on me. Just running into coolers (set over set), etc. I was really playing some of the better poker I've played in a long time. In a real zone, making great reads, I was getting good cards they just weren't holding up. Loose aggressive player opens up to 20 (standard opening raise in this game), 3 players in front of me call, I have 7-7 and I call as well. Flop comes rainbow J-7-6. The original raiser bets about the pot (around 100), the guy to his right immediately calls, it's on me and I bump it up to 400 to go. Two others fold, it's back to the original raiser, he takes a long time and calls. The guy seated next to him immediately shoves all in (he's playing a few K), I insta-call and the original raiser is committed and calls. I turn over my second nuts, set of 7's and the original raiser has KK while the guy to his right that shoved all in has 66. Oh boy, turn is 6, he makes quads. Floor gets called over because everyone things the bad beat jackpot is about to hit. River blank. Granted this is a pretty standard beat for someone who has put a decent amount of hands in but it was sick nonetheless. Makes me want to stop playing. Hard to get your money in better than that. Long story short, luck is a mother****er.
ouch...and yeah, anyone that has played poker for a few years, even at amateur levels knows what you are talking about...if you play long enough you are going to get beat by 1-outers...it happens

bad beat pot would have been nice...

here in Dallas poker rooms get robbed on a regular, an old friend of mine I used to drink with runs a room and his get bum rushed by a group of nervous Mexicans with guns...

one of the people playing at the time was a licenced gun holder and decided to unload a clip at them when they where running off...he hit one of them too because they found a lot of blood...bullet holes everywhere...everyone's legs and knees were all bruised up from trying to crawl away real fast on a cement floor...

Dallas has to be the king of poker room robbery...I know of almost a dozen rooms that have been robbed here...even if you have a guy working the door packing heat it still doesn't mean much and that just ends up make the players uncomfortable anyway...seeing guards with guns...

my father's game, which a group of 60+ year olds and charges no rake, they all chip in and hire a police officer to watch front door while they play, because rooms getting robbed in Dallas is something that even the old folks know about...

so you can at least be greatful you played poker and lived...

Never live, but online. I've messed with mocks too, ESPN has a great live mock draft service that they offer for free where you can get your feet wet and yes it's awesome. A very knowledgeable fan of the game like yourself would love it as well. Maybe next year we should try to organize and ISH league with a buy in and it would be awesome. I know that sounds ridiculous but we could start out with 50 dollars and 10 teams on paypal perhaps. And make it a similar format to my league where you start 3 RB's in order to make the teams less stacked. I know me, you, Primetime, possibly Dooms, and Lamar Doom are all adults and would honor the bet, I'm sure we could find some more. Hell, I'd do it this year but I understand you don't want to be in too many leagues. Just some food for thought.

Ha sounds like the wild west man. Ive heard old timers from Texas talk about the good old days and they were all strapped, including well known guys like Doyle and Amarillo Slim.

The card room I was playing at was a casino, so obviously while robberies occur they are far more rare. It's legal to gamble all throughout California, there are multiple small casinos and card rooms that aren't on reservations.

It was really just the magnitude of the hand that made it so sick. I rarely play much higher than 2-4, occasionally 3-6 if I'm crushing. A 3k pot would have been very nice but whatevs, I'm a nit.

You know I would be down... And I don't think it is far fetched at all. A $50 buy-in for incredible entertainment (ISH style) all football season long would be WELL worth it. And, doing auction style would just add to the awesomeness.

yeah that sucks dude...I thought you were talking about some Korean private joint though...didn't know you were talking Casino...

I just got back from Vegas yesterday actually...I didn't play though...didn't even feel like it for some reason...my father just wanted to see a show at MGM...then I went to bed...

poker has gotten old to me...it just doesn't thrill me the way it used to...I can't even play more than one sit-n-go online without being bored to death...even if I win...

craps gives me a boner but that is 100% luck...still much more exciting though...

I did my first auction draft this year and it was pretty fun. My team didn't come out exactly how I'd like it because I had no experience in auction drafts and was just pretty much winging it. I could see myself prefering auction drafts in the future.

90 catches is a bit of a stretch but I could definitely see 65-75, count me on the Knox bandwagon.

Anyway JB and Posterize are two guys I would love to have involved in an ISH money league. Would you guys be down to play for 50?

How would we do it? 50 would probably be my limit. (if you've explained this in another post just point me to it, i haven't looked through the thread)
