I know Matt Carroll is an NBA player. I don't know that it will be in Charlotte.
Carroll had perhaps the best training camp among Charlotte Bobcats. So when he was deactivated for the game against the Dallas Mavericks, it likely said more about circumstance than Carroll's efforts.
Here's the deal: Carroll is Adam Morrison, only less so. By that, I mean he's a good shooter and a surprisingly able driver who is a defensive liability. Morrison is bigger, more creative with the ball and has the credential of being the third overall pick. In other words, he's a priority for playing time.
Carroll isn't. And since it makes no sense to play Morrison and Carroll together, Matt tends to get lost in the rotation. The other two wing players, Bernard Robinson and Alan Anderson, have skills that better complement Morrison's strengths and weaknesses.
So it won't surprise me at all if Carroll has to find another team to pursue his potential.
I really like Carroll and he could easily be our starting 2 guard (Bernie should try it). Maybe Bernie will use Carroll as trade bait to get another PG like he said he was going to do.
The Cats loss to Detroit aside, with what Carroll has contributed in the last couple of games I can't imagine that the Cats will get rid of him. There are, however, some players who have been absolutely useless so far this season.
