Default Montario Hardesty may have torn ACL; Byron Leftwich possibly torn MCL

http://twitter.com/Adam_Schefter/statuses/22895954920

Quote:
Early diagnosis on Browns rookie RB Montario Hardesty: torn ACL. More exams today to confirm the news, but a blow to the Browns.

edit: Conflicting reports on Leftwich. First saw that it was a tear, now ESPN saying 2nd-degree sprain. Either way he'll miss some time and Dixon is the starter.

I believe by definition a 2nd degree sprain is a partial tear.

I think Denny will do just fine as the starter. I expect safer decision making and he adds another variable because of his speed.

Could be a good thing that Dixon is starting for a little. Steelers may have a good trading piece.

That's a very tough break for Hardesty tho. He tears his ACL in his first game action. Who's will be Harrison's back-up now?

The Browns will use a combination of James Davis and Peyton Hillis to back up Harrison, now.

SMFH

Peyton Hillis isn't that bad

Nor is James Davis. He has actually looked really good this preseason and he looked great last year before he was injured early in the season (this is his second year out of Clemson).

The good news is that we happen to be pretty deep at RB. Also, don't forget that we have Josh Cribbs running the Wildcat. The running game will be good. The passing game is of much greater concern.

Hardesty is out for the year, and I don't have him in any FF league...

I know Dooms has Harrison in the money league

I need to check to see who has him in all the other leagues...lol

hey RBA, do you suspect he will be close to an every-down back this entire year now?

Vulture alert in Cleveland.

Dallas traded Patrick Crayton to San Diego for a 7th rounder as well

He will be our feature back, at least to start the season. But, no... Both Hillis and Davis will see plenty of time. People are underrating those guys. Harrison almost can't be an every down back due to his size and aggressive running style.

This is far and away the Browns' deepest position.

SMFH

Why the SMFH if you think they will be good in the role of Harrison's back-up?

...because I was looking forward to seeing what Hardesty could do. He looked fantastic in the very limited amount of action he had seen. Now, his entire career may be in jeopardy. He has already had reconstructive surgery on his other knee.

All of this before he even took a regular season snap in Cleveland. That is why I added the 'SMFH.' We are OK in terms of the position, but we had a lot of hope for Montario.

Yeah im an idiot lol.

I don't think its a career threatener tho. Plenty of guys have had injuries like this an made comebacks. Welker this year and a good example is Willis McGahee. McGahee got his knee destroyed and went on to have a very succesful nfl career.
