Default Revis Is Signed

http://twitter.com/Adam_Schefter/status/23116564287

Quote:
Filed to ESPN: Jets and CB Darrelle Revis reach agreement in principle. Revis will fly to NY, sign contract and be on field next Monday nt.

Jay Glazer is saying that it's a seven year deal, and Rich Cimini is saying that it's the richest contract for a defensive player in the history of the NFL. Details to come.

No details yet. Schefter is saying a team but not NFL record contract. Cimini says otherwise. He's flying into New York tomorrow to sign and all signs point to him playing on Monday.

I am very interested to know how much too...

he wanted $17 mill a year

they wanted to give $11 mill a year

I want to know which side caved in more...

even would be around $14 mill a year...

Wow, Manish is one of the beat writers for the Jets, and take a look at this contract that he is throwing out there:

Quote:
#Jets deal for Darrelle Revis is 7 years... it can be voided to 4 years, $46 million, per source. #nfl #nyj

Quote:
Guaranteed money for Darrelle Revis: $32 million, per source. #nfl #nyj @Revis24.

#Jets Tannenbaum says agreement was reached around 11:45 pm. Confirms Rex, Woody flew to Fla. to meet with Revis, mom and Sean Gilbert

If true, Revis caved IMO. Less than twelve million a year isn't bad at all for the Jets. We'll have to see if anybody else starts using these figures or not.

Ok makes sense now. I woke up and turned to Sportscenter and saw that ESPN was announcing that Revis took $46 mil over 7 years, and I couldn't believe that. 4 years $46 mil sounds a lot better.

I know Revis wanted more but no reason to miss games that count over this, and $11+ mil a year is damn good money for a corner.

Revis should have held out for the first 2 weeks, so that Boldin and Moss could torch the Jets' secondary. He could've asked for $200 million after that.
