Default Ryan Grant, Bob Sanders, Kris Jenkins, Leonard Weaver, Jamaal Jackson done for season

How about that opening week 1?

Quote:
Green Bay Packers running back Ryan Grant will require surgery to correct a torn ligament in his ankle that will leave him on crutches for 10 to 12 weeks, a source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Grant is likely to fly to New York to visit a doctor for a second opinion.

Foxsports.com reported that Grant will be put on injured reserve, ending his season. The Green Bay Press-Gazette reported that the Packers plan to sign rookie running back Dimitri Nance off the Atlanta Falcons' practice squad.

Indianapolis Colts safety Bob Sanders has a torn biceps tendon and is out indefinitely, if not for the season, two team sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

It is not the same arm in which Sanders had the biceps tendon tear last season. He is scheduled to visit Dr. James Andrews on Wednesday to help determine how long he will be out.

Sanders, the league's 2007 defensive player of the year, was injured on the Texans' first offensive series when a pass was deflected by Colts safety Antoine Bethea into Sanders' face mask.

Quote:
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Kris Jenkins' season is over. You have to wonder about his career as well.

The New York Jets' nose tackle tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee Monday night against the Baltimore Ravens. It's the same knee that required reconstructive surgery last October, putting Jenkins' career in jeopardy.

"Obviously, that's going to be a huge blow for us," coach Rex Ryan said Tuesday. "Again, we're about the team, but I just feel really bad for Kris."

Jenkins, 31, a former Pro Bowl selection, was hurt in a first-quarter pile-up. He left the game and didn't return. After the game, the Jets anticipated the possibility of a season-ending injury, with one source telling ESPNNewYork.com there was a 50-50 chance it would end his season.

Jenkins went for an MRI exam Tuesday morning, confirming the tear. The previous injury to that knee also involved the ACL. It was repaired in October with a graft, using a tendon from his hamstring. He made a strong recovery, dropped more than 30 pounds and reported to training camp at 359 pounds.

Sanders took part in a walk through yesterday. Not much reason for that if he's done for the year.

They're reporting it even with that, saying he's "out indefinitely if not for the year". NFL.com is reporting it too but saying he's supposed to meet with James Andrews to see how long he'll be out. But if it's torn...

"Indefinitely" doesn't mean done. The same thing happened last year but I think it was in December, it's early enough this year he could get the surgery and potentially get a few get in to shape snaps in the last couple weeks and be back for the playoffs (if we get in). Either way he's done with the team after the year unless he wants to get cut and sign some contract with some insane injury clauses.

the only good thing I can take away from the Dallas game is that one of our player's names isn't in this thread title...

Anyone wanna list all the players lost due to injury thus far (preseason/week 1). Not sure if any were lost during training camp. I ask because I want to see if a team can be fielded. If not a core of guys.

Elvis Dumervil
Montario Hardesty
Brandon Stokley
LenDale White
Kris Brown
Tony Ugoh
Donnie Avery
Leigh Bodden
Ty Warren
Ryan Grant
Kris Jenkins

are some notable names

Then you got guys like Vincent Jackson/Logan Mankins who might also hold out for the entire season and Sidney Rice/Bob Sanders who might miss the whole year due to a injury.

Willie Colon went down with an Achilles tear in preseason workout (the reason we went after Flozell) and now Max Starks is out for several weeks with a high ankle sprain. Doesn't help our already shaky O-Line.

Bob Sanders is an impact player, but my God, he's always hurt.

I just don't see how it can work out for him longterm, and it sucks, because he is fun to watch.

It can't. He'll most likely get cut in the offseason and someone'll take a cheap flier on him and he'll get hurt again. The play he got hurt on wasn't anything insane, he came down awkwardly on his head/shoulder but it wasn't anything with immense force or something. At some point he's going to have to start thinking about his longterm health.

Inspired who is in Indy to be Bob Sanders replacer? Been a minute since I've looked at a depth chart of the Colts and cant quite remember thier past draft picks. Wondering if they took a kid with some talent or signed one to eventually move Bob along. I remember that kid Bullit? He took over for Bob. Wasnt sure if Colts added a stud at Safety or gem. Maybe he is it?

Thanks, appreciate the list. Damn those are some damn good players. A nice lil team being developed from the unfortunate injured/and long holdouts.

Yeah, it'll be Bullitt. He's REALLY solid, he'd start on the majority of teams probably. Good enough that they toyed with some 3 S sets in preseason just to get him on the field. He started all last year in place of Sanders and obviously last year the team did decent. Problem is he was an undrafted FA outta TAMU and I'm 95% sure he's a FA after the year, so BIG pay raise is due. Don't know if that'll happen with the money they just (rightly) gave Antoine Bethea. They've got no depth behind those two now though. My boy Brandon King's an undrafted rookie outta Purdue but hasn't even played S since his freshman year they converted and he wasn't much at CB either.

So yeah, S's probably a priority next draft, but they don't seem to have trouble finding diamond in the rough DBs. If only they could do it with the OL.
