Chaplin was a really bad pick if ur not going to build around him IMO. there is almost no need to pick based on value for this draft.

Do you guys know any good Italian actors? (looking at you Jasi) (either ones from Italy or ones who speak Italian) I assume that due to the nature of this draft name dropping wouldn't be a big thing. I'm looking some up and have a few ideas, but I'm not sure how believable they would be for the role I'm planning

Also I hate you for drafting Brando Brabbit I'm going to have ot be creative for the scenes he's supposed to be in (assuming I understand this draft correctly, that I won't be able to use Brando in any sort of capacity in my movie, including supporting roles).

Doesn't really matter either way. The movie takes place in Sicily though so someone with an authentic accent would make it better. Jasi already PM'D me a suggestion.

Most of the lists I'm reading online are over Italian-American's.

True. I see Littlemoney's movie as more of an Italian-American gangster type of movie. Mine has some gangster elements to it, but it isn't the main focus.

But I see your point, our casts will be filled with pretty similar actors and name dropping could fuck either one of us over.

Robert De Niro has done a lot of movies outside of the gangster theme. Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Meet the Parents, Casino, he isn't limited to that.

Casino is a gangster movie IMO. He's a bookie who works for crime bosses in Kansas City(?) and along with Pesci who is a gangster.

I'm aware of De Niro's catalog. I have quite a bit of it on my computer. I would add Deer Hunter and A Bronx Tale (De Niro plays a caring dad in this movie) to his non-gangster list personally. You could even make a case for Heat and The Score to be on that list, in those he's more of a high tech thief as opposed to an old school Italian gangster.

The reason I'm assuming he is doing a crime movie is because Martin Scorsese specializes in crime films (he makes a lot that aren't directly involved with crime, but I would say at least half his catalog is) and De Niro. The both of them together made their names mostly due to the crime flicks they made together. Somewhat of an assumption, but a reasonable one IMO.

DeNiro is of course very talented but even if he isn't playing a gangster character he still seems to exhibit a similar aura/attitude. I was debating about picking DeNiro but thought DDL was more versatile and slightly more talented. Also his looks fit more of what I imagine his role will be like than DeNiro.

I don't need to build around him. I can use him in multiple roles - actor, director, producer, writer and/or composer. Plus, I think other people I want will be around later.

Yea
Francis Ford Coppola

Francis Ford Coppola (born April 7, 1939) is an American film director, producer and screenwriter. He is a graduate of Hofstra University where he studied theatre. He earned an M.F.A. in film directing from the UCLA Film School. He is primarily known for directing the Godfather Trilogy, Apocalypse Now, Dracula, and The Conversation and for writing Patton.

The reason I chose Coppola and Pacino will become clearer the farther we get into the draft, but I feel is the perfect director for the movie I'm going to make.

With Pacino and Coppola it already looks pretty clear lol. But i would've picked Deniro over Pacino any day for any role. (outside of maybe scarface)

Well your on the right track, but Pacino is the only man who can play the role I have in store for him. De Niro, while a good actor, just can't play this role.
