I'm wondering if this fight was too soon for both Mir and Cro Cop. They were just doing the dance of love and friendship out there and talking in each other's ear until finally Mirko got caught.
I stand buy all decisions. Like Dana promotes, finish fights, don't leave it up to judging. If it takes a couple of bad judging calls for people to see it, than so be it.
You're just encouraging more shitty fights and more shitty judging within the shitty scoring system.
How so? If you want to truly win, finish the other guy. Engauge in the fight. The final product would be better. And if it does go to the judging then you may win more points for being the aggresor.

That dana white saying is good when you first hear it then after that its pretty retarded. Its simply impossible to finish every fight.
Lets take the Dunham vs Sherk fight,Dunham should have won that fight he dominated the standup and the ground game. Its not like Dunham was sitting back and trying to score points he was going for guilllotines and was rocking him with knees and such.Sherk on the other hand held him just trying to score points
So then Dunham whent for finishes and big punches and was the aggressor and yet lost?So then knowing that you still stand by sherk getting the win even though he wasnt the aggressor didnt go for submissions or finishes?
Like he said, you can't finish every fight, and the scoring system is terrible and the judging has been questionable. You can't excuse poor judging and the terrible scoring system merely because a fight went to decision.

That's just one case though. No I didn't think Sherk won. I had it 29-28 Duham. But in the end Dunham promoted himself nicely even with the loss.
In the end judging win always be contoversy, but the guys who engage and be the aggressor stand the better chance and put on a good product. That's why guys like Clay Guida still have a job and are fan favorites. That's why Bones Jones is everybody's favorite fighter.

Not even,Bader vs Nog same thing Bader was not the aggressor he won because of what 3 takedowns? Nog stuffed atleast 80% of the takedowns and beat him standing up.Nog was the aggressor while bader wanted nothing yo do with the standup. Also the first shogun vs machida fight theres plenty of cases.
Yes no matter what system they use there will always be conterversial descisions but if they change or smarten up the judges some of the crappy decisions will turn out right.

That's kind of what I'm saying. Of course I don't believe every fight can be finished, but when the fighters engage the chances of a finish are higher. Regardless of win or loss you put on a show. Even the losers get share for fight of the night. That and you better your chances of promoting yourself on bigger cards and possibly main event type purses. That's why I use Clay as an example. Far from the best fighter in his weight class yet manages to still get main event recognition and top level fighters. Why? He puts on a good show and keeps himself relevant, even in losses.
The scoring system has to be improved, yellow cards need to be given out for stalling, and the first round needs to be 10 minutes. Oh wait, that was PRIDE. Pride rules in the cage(plus elbows) would be the best ever. Except head stomps maybe because you could easily get pinned against the cage and get your face kicked in.

No, yellow cards are stupid, too. Just look at Dream 16. Aurelio got one for no reason whatsoever. They just need to overhaul the scoring system and get better judges/train the judges better.
That was before Lesnar knew what he was doing in UFC, and Mir was getting pounded until he lucked out by Lesnar leaving himself open to a submission. The physical dominance of Lesnar was on display before he got caught offguard in the first fight. In the second fight there was no such mistake and as a consequence it was an uncompetitive ass-kicking. Mir can't compete with that strength, they might as well be in two different weight classes. His only hope is for Lesnar to make a mistake like he made in the first fight, but as Lesnar grows more experienced he makes fewer such errors. They fight again, you know Lesnar and his trainers will make sure submission defense is solid because that's Mir's only chance.
+1
Best post. I like Frank Mir and his analytical view of the fighting game, but he sure is one hell of a cocky ass (like how he says he would beat Lesnar 99 out of 100 fights) it sure aint happening.
The second fight between Frank Mir and Lesnar, you can clearly see Lesnar having BJJ knowledge, how he had kept Mir pinned down at full/half guard and throw devastating punches at him at the same time. He has improved and probably would dominate the heavyweight division for years to come.
