Nah I'm referring to Quantum of Solace and the last couple of ones with Brosnan. Out of the last 4 or 5, this one stands out as the best to me.
As far as over the top, that's what Bond films generally are. However, this one had a unique story and a fresh face for Bond. I think that's why most of us like it, cause of Daniel Craig.

I have seen damn near all the Bond movies(thanks to a spike marathon a long ass time ago)
I haven't seen Quantum of Solace or the last one Pierce did with Halle Berry. I guess I was old enough to realize just how unrealistic they are and that stuck with me because certain parts really made react with a wtf.

Any other 007 recommendations?
Avoid both of the new Bond films.
They aren't Bond films at all, just action films with the franchise's name on it.
Re: Just watched a James Bond movie for the first time ever.
I haven't watched all of em since I was a kid, before Goldeneye had even came out, but I used to really like em. Just the other day (which could very well be the same way you watched your first one) I noticed that all of the old ones (or at least damn near all) were on the free on demand shit on my TV, and was about to start watchin em again.
I don't think I've seen most of the 90's/2000's Bond movies though. Goldeneye yes, and I think I saw one more Pierce Brosnan Bond movie, but I can't recall now. Then I saw Casino Royale and thought it was "eh", and didn't see the newest one either. I didn't really think much of Daniel Craig, for reasons I can't completely explain.

I only saw Casino Royale once, and I thought it was okay, but nothing amazing. I imagine I'll rewatch it after I start goin through the old ones, but I remember not completely following the whole thing towards the end with the girl? Vesper was it? I might have missed something while watching it, but it seemed confusing to me. Was she like a double/triple/beyond agent that was trying to play everyone for a jive turkey or what was goin on with her?
Edit: Unrelated to Daniel Craig and any new Bond flicks, but Live And Let Die is still an entry I felt was always underrated. It has the only theme song that I know of to be covered by Guns N Roses, that has to count for something. And James Bond is called a honkey and blends right in in 1970's Harlem.
