Miami vs. Minnesota Thoughts:

Ellington looks comfortable and confident shooting the ball from long distance

Wesley Johnson is definitely one of the most NBA-ready rookies, and is producing across the board with poise and excitement

Love comes out with a vengeance... but sadly he doesn't really look like he loves (pardon the pun) playing for the Wolves

Too bad Beasley went down

We badly need an athletic Centre that can block shots, rebound and grab boards. I wouldn't be opposed to trying to make a move for Thabeet as he surely can't be a part of Memphis' long term plans with Marc Gasol starting. Not sure if the Wizards are high on McGee as evertime I watch the Wizards he is getting pulled, he would be another good fit. I would be willing to give up the rights to Rubio to get a young C or a high draft pick.

The last 2 games have been embarrasing to say the least. Sure we were without arguably our best player in Beasley (I believe he is as he was taking it to the Heat and keeping us close before the injury) but we shouldn't be beaten by 30+ points in 2 consecutive games.

I agree we need a more athletic center. I also think that Thabeet would be a good piece to come in off the bench. He shouldnt cost too much to get either, as he hasnt really done anything yet in Memphis. however, I wouldnt give up the rights to Rubio to get Thabeet unless we draft Kyrie Irving, or possibly get Harrison Barnes. I know that Barnes isnt a pg, but he has big play ability and can create his own shot. I still feel Rubio has a future with the Wolves but they definately have to improve before he comes over, and I think they are starting to show that improvement.

Maybe we could package the rights to Rubio or J.Flynn, along with another of our younger players. Possibly Brewer or Webster. To get another top 3 pick in this draft. Could you imagine getting both Barnes & Irving in this draft? I know its very unlikely but its fun to imagine what could be.

We could be looking at a lineup of
C-Milicic
PF-Love
SF-Beasley
SG-Johnson
PG-Irving
6th man-Barnes
with Ellington & Tolliver also coming off the bench. Also if we ended up keeping Flynn then he would probably be the starter for a year while Irving learned the ropes or we would have Rubio coming off the bench. In this situation i'd prefer for it to be Rubio that got traded so we wouldnt have 2 rookie pg's basically handling the rock. Plus I believe Rubio has more value.

This lineup might also attract a big time free agent to come here and play. i'd really like to see the Wolves make a big time push for Carmelo Anthony, although that is highly unlikely, but I think we got the pieces to make it happen, but I dont want to trade our 1st rounder to help get the deal done, because I believe that pick will be key in helping us become a contender again in the next 2-3years

As much as I would like to see Barnes play for us I think we have a star in Beasley at the same position and we have a gaping hole at the C position that I think we have to fill. I don't know much about this draft class is there a good C avaliable in the top 5?

Possibly Enes Kanter, However if your taking a big man in the top 5, You have to be damn sure he fits your organization, because big men have high flop rates in my opinion. Also this is the NBA so you draft talent reguardless of who you do or dont have on your roster. Look at Portland for example, think how good they would be if they would have taken Durant over Oden, or you could look at Detroit when they selected Milicic, they could have went several different directions, Melo, Bosh or Wade, but they didnt. I know we have a rising superstar on the team in Beasley who plays virtually the same position, however the top 3 prospects in this draft, atleast up to this point are Barnes, Irving, & Perry Jones who also plays the 3, but could possibly slide over to the 4, but we have Love there already as well.

Also if you had lets say a player like a Ray Allen, very good player, all-star level player, atleast back in the day, would you pass on Kobe Bryant because they play the same position and you already have a good player there? Now before anyone goes there im not saying Barnes is the next Kobe, but he does have superstar potential like that, but he will have to put the work in to get to that level.

Flynn has the possibility to be back any day, the first initial reports were that he could play this week, however he is still listed as day to day and here is a little article about it.

http://www.twincities.com/sports/ci_...nclick_check=1

When Timberwolves point guard Jonny Flynn had hip surgery in July, the initial projection for his return to the court was mid- to late November. Flynn is closing in on that window, but he remains uncertain when he will play his first game this season.

The tedious recovery process has prompted Flynn to discard the timeline for a possible return and change his status to "day to day."

"I'm not sure right now," Flynn said at Wednesday morning's shootaround, responding to questions on when he expects to play. "Every day I come in, I feel different every single day. The progress is going well. I'm just trying to get my legs back under me."

Wolves coach Kurt Rambis said Flynn is still "a ways away" from playing in a game. Flynn had surgery on July 27 to repair a torn labrum in his left hip. Flynn said he knew it might take "three to four months" before he makes a full recovery, but the uncertainty appears to be weighing on the second-year guard.

"I can't remember anything remotely close to being out this long from playing ball," Flynn said. "I can see the light, but I still have to be cautious."

Flynn was cleared two weeks ago for full-contact practices with the team. He also has been doing individual workouts, conditioning and weightlifting sessions with assistant coach Darrick Martin. Flynn admitted he has been sore after some of the workouts, but he said the soreness was unrelated to his hip.

"I'm doing a lot of things at one time that I haven't done in three months," Flynn said. "I have to get used to that."
