Default Clippers offered Kaman for Anthony

The Nets aren't the only team that Denver said no to when Carmelo Anthony's name came up in trade talks. The Clippers recently offered Chris Kaman in a package and got the same response.

We know what you're thinking. How could the Clippers even be in the discussion, when Anthony has made it known that he will go only to teams he will sign a long-term deal with. The Clips, apparently, made his list, joining the Knicks, Bulls and Nets. Apparently, Anthony's wife, the TV personality, Lala Vazquez, signed off on a move to Hollywood, even if her husband must play for L.A.'s J.V. team.

If you can get a superstar player, you make the deal. Kaman is really damn solid, but a Melo-Griffin-Jordan front court is easily superior to a Gomes-Griffin-Kaman front court and, depending on who else is included in the deal, Clippers can make a move for another big man. Let's say this deal was just Kaman + Aminu + Cook for Melo + Birdman.

Clippers then could deal Randy Foye to acquire a big man, or trust a three man Center rotation of Jordan, Birdman and one of the training camp bigs (Voshkul/Collins)

I mean, this could be the potential depth chart:

CE: DeAndre Jordan - Birdman - Voshkul/Collins
PF: Blake Griffin - Craig Smith
SF: Carmelo Anthony - Ryan Gomes - Marques Blakley
SG: Eric Gordon - Rasual Butler
PG: Baron Davis - Randy Foye - Eric Bledsoe

kaman
nene

I want this deal to happen.

Los Angeles Lakers vs. Los Angeles Clippers in the Western Conference Finals.

I've been saying the Clippers were the best fit for him for months now, and I'm glad somebody in the national media is finally picking it up. I just wonder how credible this is, the last time the NY Daily News made a report based of their "sources in Melo's camp" they claimed Melo had agreed to the extension in NJ which would have made that 4-team trade go down and we saw how that worked out.

Oh and here's the thread I was talking about earlier about Melo to L.A.....

They can also just turn around and deal Kaman for like Prince, Wilcox & Summers.

Prince can be the stopgap SF with Nene at the Five and Wilcox/Harrington at the four.

Nene | Birdman | K-Mart
Harrington | Wilcox
Prince | Aminu
Afflalo | Smith | Balkman
Billups | Lawson

Decent starting unit with a nice bench. Smith/Lawson provide offense, Aminu defense, Birdman blocks and Wilcox putbacks.
