That's takin it a bit far. NO WAY in hell is Welker "an average receiver." I don't care about the system or if Moss is your teammate. When you have over 100 rec in three straight years like he's done, that's impressive.

He got those receptions because the entire secondary was worried about Moss going deep. Welker never gets covered by someone like Revis or any other team's top cover guy.

Well he will now if Moss is gone. Good luck getting open now, Wes.

How many other WRs Moss played with caught 100? I don't regard Welker as being an elite on par with guys Like Fitz and Johnson but when you call him average you're not giving enough due credit. Playing without Moss will hurt but he's still a good player.

He may be alright but there are only three or four guys in the whole league that could do what Moss has done.

The guy is 5'9" and weighs 185 pounds. He runs in open space that was vacated because the entire secondary is covering Moss down field. That will be gone now. He is gonna have to run real routes, with top level DBs on him.

When Edelman came in for him last year, he was just as effective as Welker was doing the same job.

This makes me wonder about Farve's future. No way in hell Moss comes back with Farve retiring the following year and have to deal with T. Jackson.

In Welkers absenceHe had a 1 catch game, a 10-catch game, and then a 6-catch game. The 6-catch game came with two TDs, which is nice, but overall that's not really replacing Welker...though for the record, edelman was drafted because the staff figured he'd be best able to replace Welker. And don't forget that, for example, Donte Stallworth was brought in but ended up being of far less value to the team than welker. And don't forget that a 100-catch Welker was a key component to arguably the greatest offense in NFL history. 100-catch receivers are not "average." That's nonsense.

Lastly, you could say the "5'9, 185" business about Steve Smith. Doesn't matter, it's not how big you are, it's how big you play. No, you don't want the whole D focused on Welker the way it will be but you just don't catch 100 balls if you're "average."

If this really goes down I just wonder what Brady has to say (not that he'd ever publicly condemn the team). Just got that fat new extension and now, if this happens, they're looking to go EXTREMELY young.

Wes Welker is not Steve Smith.

Good luck though with Welker running routes down the field.
