Default DeJuan Blair in great shape

Quote:
The dramatic reduction in DeJuan Blair’s body fat — the Spurs’ big man went from 14 percent to 8 percent over the summer — has made him Exhibit A in strength and conditioning coach Mike Brungardt’s “thin is in” summer workout program.

Blair, though, is but one of the summer-success stories for Brungardt and assistant strength coach Chris White.

Brungardt declared the Spurs, as a team, reported to training camp in better shape than at any time in the past seven seasons. His annual body-fat measurement revealed lower percentages for most players, with Blair making the most dramatic drop.

Brungardt and White continue to put the Spurs through a daily regimen of conditioning drills that look like a cross between schoolyard recess and NFL draft combine workouts.

I'm looking forward to what Blair can do this year with more minutes. He's definitely impressed me with his work over the summer and it's shown in the practice scrimmages and early in the preseason.

Do you think Blair will be our eventual starter at PF when Duncan reties in a few years, or be the "super roleplayer" guy for the Spurs over the next half a decade?

I kind of like him in the super roleplayer role, though I think he has the potential to be a decent starter putting up maybe 13-15/10-11 numbers at some point if starting.

Blair should be Malik Rose 2.0

Should come off the bench and only start if there isn't a better option. Just don't trade him for a Nazr Mohammed 2.0

I think he has a future at the 4
Last night matching up against Kaman and Blake Griffin he dropped in 21 pts and 6 boards.
He's an extremely talented rebounder and he's been working hard on his offensive game.
It's just too bad that the inevitable comparisons to TD will happen. Not fair to whoever takes over.

I think that a 15/10 line is reasonable. He might even surprise with better offensive production in the next couple years.
