Who was more overrated Baron Davis or Gilbert Arenas?
Both players are all type of contracts. Got them after a couple years of scoring binges on low efficiency. Both at their scoring peak was considered by many to be top PG in the league. Who was more overrated? I would say Baron Davis. The dude was super flashy and athletic but really never produced on an elite level, yet was considered elite level pointguard.
They were both really fun to watch tho so no knock on their games.

???...Baron Davis was a beast...he killed it during the playoffs when he was in Charlotte...
Re: Who was more overrated Baron Davis or Gilbert Arenas?
Arenas was awesome for about 2 seasons, he still has amazing talent but I think he's lost the plot a bit.. He was still good last year before the suspension, 24ppg if I remember right?? Hopefully he plays well and gets traded before the deadline, love to see him in a different scenario if possible..
Davis was a beast.. He had a crappy season last year due to injuries etc, hell half the clips team was injured. I'm expecting more this season..
I don't think either are "OVERRATED", I'm so sick of that term on here.. Both have produced and at the time obviously management thought they were worth the big contracts. So would most fans at the time..

Clippers aren't going anywhere as long as Baron Davis is there. You can have hima nd his sub 40% shooting and gunning from 3 even though he rarely hits them.

Repped. They weren't overrated.. they both put up solid numbers, led their respective teams and they won games.
Injuries and personal issues sidetracked their careers and I doubt that either will ever get back to their 'prime' level of play.
Both players had dissapointing careers because they had short primes, but they weren't overrated at all while it lasted.
Re: Who was more overrated Baron Davis or Gilbert Arenas?
The idea that Arenas was overrated during his prime is quite frankly, retarded.
In a season when he was averaging 28ppg on a playoff team, he was only voted in as an injury reserve to the All-Star team. He averaged 34ppg in a playoff series against Lebron as a 23 year old.
He 'only' got any attention when he dropped 60 on a Kobe. As a 22 year old, he was a 25/5/5 player, noticeably better than Derick Rose is now for example, but he had none of that hype.
Oh, efficiency? Get the f*** out of here. Gilbert was really efficient for a high usage player, his TS% was quite good during his prime.
Effect on the game? Arenas had the highest plus minus on the Wizards in 06-07, and all throughout his prime the Wizards had a GREAT offense. They only sucked because of their defense. But Arenas RAN a BETTER OFFENSE THAN JASON KIDD did, and the STATS will BACK THAT UP.
Arenas only became 'overrated' when he signed a big contract and got injured. Before that, he was a 28ppg player making 10 mil per year who took his team to the playoffs 3 years in a row, made 3 straight All-NBA teams, and 3 straight All-Star appearances, all while making more game winners than ANYBODY during that 3 year period. Overrated? Get the f*** out of here. Gilbert was a BALLER during his 3 year prime. You want to deny it? Look up the 'Is Gil the MVP' threads ALL OVER INSIDE HOOPS during the 06-07 season. Don't deny what is a fact.

+1.
How soon people forget on ISH
Its weird some players primes, Tmac for example, are remembered as legendary on here by some, yet the same people think Arenas, AI, Shaq etc are cancers and "Overrated"
Especially since those certain posters didnt see any of these guys actually play in there "primes"...
Good point on Arenas' game winners man some of them were awesome...
Re: Who was more overrated Baron Davis or Gilbert Arenas?
I actually think Baron's gone sort of underappreciated lately. Sure he's not the same guy now that he used to be, but back with the Hornets, and on the Warriors as well, he was an excellent PG. Not the most efficianct scorer ever, but he showed up when it counted, played very good defense (still does), and also created for his team nicely.
Gilbert I have mixed feelings on, but I haven't seen tons and tons of people overhyping him either, so I can't exactly claim he was neccessarily overrated. Being a Wizard, you tend to not get much attention.
