If you want it to work for both then buy a tennis shoes. I play basketball in tennis shoes even though I don't play tennis. Tennis shoes has more court feel but less impact protection. Just add padding when playing basketball if you need it.

How about this pair of Air Jordan 1 Retro High – ‘Banned’ ?

unfortuantely, the release date of them are still available. if you are in urgent need of them, possible you can find some makeshift at bigtimekicks ( forgive me, if you take this as an spam as this site has nothing with me).

I do use tennis shoes to play ball now (adidas barricade V and VI's). It really depends on the shoe, the barricades are reall sturdy and supports lateral mvmt really well. I'm just not sure how it would hold jumping all the time.

I just noticed the Hyperdunk lows and the Vapor Zooms (Federer's signature shoe last year) look almost the same. See for yourself

When Gilbert Arenas was still with Adidas he had some good low cut shoes. I had some low cut And 1's that were also good.

Let me rephrase the question. Any good low-cut shoes out there that also provide ample cushioning?

The most annoying thing I hate is the pain in the center of my foot after constant jumping. The regular hyperdunks gave me that pain. A friend who has the hyperdunk lows had the same problems too.

I know low cut shoes are built for speed (hence the lightweight material), but there should be something out there that provides stability too.

Maybe just use superfeet insoles?

EDIT - just googled about the Air Max Lebron Low. I was looking at the Air Max Turnaround Lows and they only had the "air" at the heel. It seems the only basketball shoe out there with a low cut and 360 air is endorsed and named after the player I hate most.

Kobe V are the only way to go, bro. Seriously, most comfortable, lightest, best performing basketball shoe I've ever played in ... no lies, no agenda. It shits all over the Kobe IV which used "lunar cushioning" which bottoms out after several wears. Kobe V has the best traction I've ever had laterally in a basketball shoe, and has nice cushy Nike Zoom from the mid foot to the heel, which is also my favorite Nike technology as its very light, responsive, comfortable, and makes your feet feel refreshed and not tired after long runs of ball.

Oh and about stability ... that doesn't come from the shoe. Soccer players cut harder and faster than basketball players and they wear lower cut shoes than a low cut hooping shoe. It's a myth, my dude. In fact, your ankle is better fit to naturally recover with it own movements if it isn't restricted by the guidlines of a hightop or ankle brace. I've never rolled an ankle in low tops. I have however in highs and mid tops. It makes no difference. If you land on someone's foot there is nothing you can do about it anyway.

I just got back in the gym with a new pair the other day ... played pick up for 6 straight hours, like I was in high school again and felt NO EFFECTS on my feet. Now, on the rest of my body I was sore the next day, but my feet felt perfectly fine.
