i've tried, but i started with the anime and it's not the same without the soundtrack and the advanced animations. Might get into Before Titan though

The manga of that arc was a clusterfuck that couldn't find the solution for a year or two. Thanks to the anime version it wraps up nicely and a bit more realistically i.e. Roberta, after crushing a machete with her teeth, is human after all.

For people that appreciate older better anime check out this youtube channel. I haven't watched them all but I recommend Hi no Tori, Cockpit, Angel's Egg, Sanctuary, Dream Hunter Rem, and Mellowlink. There are other good ones among a few bad ones. Great stuff.
