Kinda old news, but a manga called "Tonari no Seki-kun" is getting an anime adaptation. Funny manga, definitely worth a look.
The latest wraparound jacket band for Takuma Morishige's Tonari no Seki-kun comedy manga revealed that an anime has been green-lit. In addition, a website titled “t-sekikun.jp” was registered under the name Shinei Animation last month.
The original manga revolves around a girl named Yokoi who sits next to a boy only known as “Seki-kun.” During class, Seki-kun continues to not pay attention and instead creates amazingly throrough little distractions, such as a detailed golf course with the course's hole being a dent in his desk, or an entire dramatic war being played out by paper shogi pieces.
Morishige began his manga in Media Factory's Comic Flapper magazine in 2010. The manga was nominated in the 5th Manga Taisho Awards last year. A set of live-action commercials were aired in Japanese bookstores and trains in 2011.
Coppelion Anime Gets 'Reboot' With Previews at Anime Expo, Japan Expo
The wraparound jacket band on the 18th volume of Tomonori Inoue's Coppelion science-fiction military action manga is announcing on Friday that the television anime adaptation plans will get a "reboot." The anime will premiere this Fall on the BS-11 channel and other venues. The first episode will debut at Japan Expo in Paris and Anime Expo in Los Angeles this month.
The volume also announced the main voice cast:
Haruka Tomatsu as Ibara Naruse
Kana Hanazawa as Aoi Fukasaku
Satomi Akesaka as Taeko Nomura
The story is set in 2036, after radioactive contamination from a nuclear accident has put Tokyo under a blockade. Three high school girls have been sent to this dead city. Thanks to genetic engineering, the three girls have been impervious to radioactivity since birth. They form a special forces unit, codenamed "Coppelion," in the 3rd Division of Japan's Ground Self-Defense Force.
The manga began in Kodansha's Weekly Young Magazine in 2008 and moved to Monthly Young Magazine last year. Weekly Young Magazine announced a Coppelion television anime in 2010, but the plans were put on hold after the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami disaster.
I'm rewatching some Gundam stuff. I started with War in the pocket....good stuff. Then I'm gonna follow up with Stardust Memory, 08th MS Team, and Char's Counter Attack.
Well looks like you got something to look forward to next year.
Gundam The Origin Anime & Tomino's Latest to Be Unveiled in 2014-2015
Bandai President and "Chief Gundam Officer" Kazunori Ueno confirmed on Monday that his company will celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Gundam anime and plastic model franchise with two more projects, in addition to the Gundam Build Fighters television series and the final volume of the Mobile Suit Gundam UC anime.
The "anticipated" latest work from Gundam creator Yoshiyuki Tomino and the anime adaptation of Yoshikazu Yasuhiko's Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin manga will both be unveiled "sometime between 2014 and 2015."
Ueno presented an image for Tomino's latest work similar to those for "G-Reko," the codename for the previously announced robot project from Tomino. Kadokawa Shoten's Gundam Ace reported last August that this project would be "entering full-fledged production."
Gundam Ace's August 2011 issue had announced that an anime project of Yoshikazu Yasuhiko's Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin manga would be launching.
The other two major projects marking Gundam's 35th anniversary, Gundam Build Fighters and Mobile Suit Gundam UC's final volume, are slated for this October and next spring, respectively.
Studio Trigger to Launch Kickstarter for New Little Witch Academia Episode
Studio Trigger announced at Anime Expo on Friday that it plans to create another episode of its Little Witch Academia magical fantasy anime short. The company revealed that it will launch a Kickstarter campaign next week to help raise funds for the project.
The new localization and game company acttil announced last month that it would be collaborating with Studio Trigger to release a Blu-ray Disc release of Little Witch Academia in a Collector's Edition Blu-ray Disc this summer.
Trigger describes the story:
Akko Kagari is an ordinary girl who joins the renowned witch academy for witch girls, Luna Nova Academy. When she was younger, she went to Magical Festa, a magic show hosted by a witch named Shiny Chariot. Akko was so mesmerized and inspired by Shiny Chariot's performance that she dreamed to someday be a "cool" witch like her. This young and impressionable Akko takes Shiny Chariot's words as her own motto: "Never forget, a believing heart is your magic." As part of a class, Akko and her classmates go into a labyrinth under the Tower of Luna Nova. There, a sealed ancient dragon was unleashed by one of her classmates. Akko tries to stop the dragon, but…
The studio posted the entire 30-minute anime with English subtitles on YouTube and Crunchyroll in April. Studio Trigger originally created the short for this year's Anime Mirai project.
Good god this is a terrible season. Last season had plenty of bad but there's like 2 things I'm even maybe watching on this list. What a bummer. Too much "lives of girls" shit. That gets old after 1 imo. But apparently not in Japan so I guess that's all that matters.
