Default The best advice for picking shoes to ball in

Iight. I know I'm gonna get a bunch of idiotic comments on this thread for being female but if I get a few good tips, it'll all be worth it.

Im relatively new to playing basketball, I've only been playing about a year in a serious/dedicated way...before that, it was something I did occasionally and that's how I picked my shoes. I picked a pair i liked the look of and it was all about appearance...

Now that Im actually playing though, I wanted to know what your best advice is for picking basketball shoes. What do you look for? what're your do's and don'ts and what shoes would you recommend?

My ex girlfriend always pick Nike to play.
Most of the girls preffer fancy shoes instead of confortable and light shoes.

Mostly I'd pick Air Force Ones. But if for you, I'd recommend Air Jordan women shoes. They are pretty much specially-designed for females and the protection is awesome.

you clearly know nothing about shoes if you ball in Air Force Ones. Yes, I know Sheed does, but come on man.

Well, the best tip there really is in pocking any shoe for basketball is how comfortable you feel in them. Sure, the first thing you'd look at is how good it looks, but then it at the end of the day, it's really just how it feels on your feet and if it fits your style of play.

Three things I look for when buying basketball shoes.

a) Light weight

b) Good ankle support.

c) Comfortable.

Warning: Never play ball in low cut shoes. Unless you like having a sprained or rolled ankle.

I agree mainly with the last 2 points, especially feeling confortable in me.

While I look for the same things, I've played with plenty of people who say low tops won't necessarily make you ankle-injury prone. Hell, I was just at Footlocker the other day and the chick in there said Kobes were the most comfortable shoe there and best to play in.

OP....go to the store and try some on. That's the best way to figure out what's best for you if you aren't too knowledgeable about shoes. Nike is definitely setting the bar high with their latest stuff so I would personally start there. Adidas is coming out with nice stuff lately but Nike is really pushing the whole lightweight/super comfortable thing. I'd check them out.

U clearly know lots of thing about shoes, a designer from Nike? Tell us the differences between Zoom and Air? I normally cannot figure that out with my average sized brain. Come on, man.

dude you're a fool. Zoom is Air. ZOOM AIR. theres no "Nike Zoom" products.
However the difference between the Visible Air and Zoom Air is that zoom air is almost like an airbag, when you step on it, it redirects the pressure to a different area.

read up son.
