Re: Jazz waive Sundiata Gaines, Othyus Jeffers, Demetris Nichols and Ryan Thompson
I don't get what happened to Ronnie, last year he was a guy who could help you out and give you a good amount of production when somebody was out, he could score, do a good job at PG, especially after Maynor was traded.
Ronnie's been garbage just like Elson since December, he hasn't made shots, when he was playing the point when Deron was out in late January/early February he was awful.
Re: Jazz waive Sundiata Gaines, Othyus Jeffers, Demetris Nichols and Ryan Thompson
He has been injured, so maybe that's what's causing his poor play.
There was talk they were trying to trade him or they would waive him after the deadline just for the tax break it'd give them, but they did neither. I'm kinda surprised they didn't push harder for the Nets to take back Bell or Price in the Deron deal.

Sundiata deserves a full season contract with a team, he did good in his minutes with Utah, and he had a few good games with Toronto.
As do many guys. Obviously he's very close. It will at least lead to a nice contract overseas.

I'd rather have Gaines then Price on the Jazz at the moment. Maybe they'll look at bringing him back to the team next year.
He's a pg at least. Could bring him back now. They have an extra roster space and just cut their luxury tax significantly.

He's always looked awful to me ouside of his defensive injury and being able to hit the boards well for someone his size. He never should have been a back-up or rotation player. He can't run a team. He can't shoot though he likes doing so. He's an end of the bench guy at best.

Maybe with Sloan gone his days are numbered? Doesn't sound like they pushed the Nets for anything. You want Deron? OK. What will you offer? Deal! Unbelievable really to deal such an asset without shopping him to the highest bidder. Nets could have and would have given a lot more as would other teams.

I think O'Connor had said he didn't want to shop Deron too hard because he was worried teams would start low-balling him. They obviously wanted draft picks and the Nets were in the best position to give them multiple lottery picks. I don't have a problem with him going to the Nets, I just don't see why he couldn't have said "OK, you can have Deron, but we want to swap Murphy for Okur and you'll have to take Bell/Price also". The Nets were willing to take the contracts of guys like Harrington and Rip Hamilton in the Melo deal, so surely he could of pushed for Okur to be in the deal too. Hell, maybe you could even push for someone like Morrow to be in the deal too.
I know there's not proof he didn't do any of that, but from the way O'Connor described the situation, King offered him the Favors/Harris/draft pick combo and he said yes on the spot.

That's ridiculous. Obviously they would have gotten more it teams had to bid for him.

They were ready to give Denver 4 first rounders. Why settle for 2?

Me either.

Not sure the Jazz want to get rid of any of those guys is the problem.

Don't forget Jefferson. They could have asked for about anything and probably gotten it especially if they'd gotten other teams involved.

Yep. Baffling.

Nets need to keep him.
Outside Deron I'm not sure they need to keep anyone.
Re: Jazz waive Sundiata Gaines, Othyus Jeffers, Demetris Nichols and Ryan Thompson
I read the reason they signed him originally was because he had a passport and could go to London. They were looking at someone else who couldn't make it to NJ in time for the flight and Gaines could.

New Jersey Nets point guard Sundiata Gaines will be out of action for several weeks after fracturing his right hip.
Nets general manager Billy King said Thursday that Gaines was injured in the first quarter of Wednesday’s game at Cleveland.
He said Gaines will be on crutches for six to eight weeks and will then start a rehab program.
The 24-year-old out the University of Georgia has appeared in 10 games with the Nets this season, averaging 5.5 points and 2.5 assists in 14.6 minutes. He had just signed a multiyear contract with the team last weekend after playing for them on two 10-day contracts.
Re: Jazz waive Sundiata Gaines, Othyus Jeffers, Demetris Nichols and Ryan Thompson
Wizards President Ernie Grunfeld announced today that the team has signed swingman Othyus Jeffers to a second 10-day contract.
Jeffers has appeared in five games for the Wizards, averaging 1.4 points and 2.0 rebounds. He was originally called up by the Wizards from the NBA Development League’s Iowa Energy on March 17.
Re: Jazz waive Sundiata Gaines, Othyus Jeffers, Demetris Nichols and Ryan Thompson
Iowa Energy guard Curtis Stinson, the third player in NBA Development League history to earn All-NBA D-League First Team honors in consecutive years, joins Bakersfield Jam guard Trey Johnson, Dakota Wizards center Chris Johnson, Erie BayHawks forward Ivan Johnson and Texas Legends forward Joe Alexander on the 2010-11 All-NBA D-League First Team, as voted on by the NBA D-League’s 16 head coaches.
Of the First Team members, Alexander, the eighth overall pick by the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2008 NBA Draft, Trey Johnson, who is currently with the Los Angeles Lakers, and Chris Johnson, who is now a member of the Portland Trail Blazers, have NBA experience. Stinson, meanwhile, was voted to the First Team for the second straight year, joining Randy Livingston (Idaho, 2006-07, 2007-08) and Tierre Brown (North Charleston, 2002-03; Charleston, 2003-04) as the only players in NBA D-League history to earn such honors.
Named to the Second Team were Iowa Energy guard Othyus Jeffers, who is currently with the Washington Wizards, Utah Flash guard Orien Greene, who earned a Call-Up to the New Jersey Nets this year, Rio Grande Valley Vipers forward Jeff Adrien, who is now a member of the Golden State Warriors, Tulsa 66ers forward Larry Owens, who is also with the Washington Wizards, and Austin Toros center Marcus Cousin, who is now on the Houston Rockets’ roster, on assignment to Rio Grande Valley.
