Default Where does Brett Favre's consecutive starts streak rank in sports?

I donīt usually like to talk about Favre cause I donīt like him...

BUT, I watched this video in the NFL website and couldn`t wonder where does it rank having Ripken in baseball...

What do you guys think ?

Also you HAVE to watch this video, a few shots between Simms and Collinsworth great talking over there.

The record is never brought up unless you're talking about Favre. Overall longevity and durability is brought up when you're talking about players, specifically quarterbacks, but someone isn't arguing current quarterbacks and saying, "Well, Peyton Manning hasn't missed a game since he was drafted, so f*ck you!"

The fact that Favre himself has the streak going is the only reason why such a big a deal is made out of it. If it were anyone else, it wouldn't be that big of a deal

Football is violent and QBs get hit as much as anyone by guys far larger than themselves. It's an impressive feat, and shows how tough Favre is. That said, when he goes out there with two fractures in his ankle like he'll try to on Sunday you have to wonder whether or not he's really helping his team.

Many ish posters weren't even born yet when it started.

I'm 28 and was in 6th grade when it began.

It's a very impressive feat, considering the fact that he has spent 18 years having very large, angry, testosterone filled men who want to crush him, chasing after him.

Collinsworth got Simms going. That was great. I do understand what he was attempting to say. As a QB your athletic ability really isnt tested nor required as much as other positions. But regardless you're being dealt some pretty vicious hits as a QB and the NFL over the years has come up with ways to protect the QB position to keep them healthy. So they acknowledge the size, strength, speed of defensive players and them wanting to tee off on QBs. Not sure how many times Favre has been sacked or knocked down during his entire career. It has to be up there. And even if he isnt much of an athlete as Collinsworth suggests those hits add up.

But I do get where he was going with it tho. And the streak is impressive but because its Favre who recieves so much attention even when its unwarranted? Hard for me to give it the full appreciation others give it. Both Cal and Brett both made sure they kept thier streak going regardless if it helped or hurt the team.

I hope Simms and Collinsworth play tennis. Be funny.

Yeah they really got it going, just watching Simms getting all mad red when he was listening to Collinsworth.

Yup, he was red. You can tell he was mad because he started to list things to prove he was athletic then I think mentioned a card game or something. If there wa ever a perfect time to say "U mad?" that was Cris time. Unfortunately he dropped the ball much like he did in his NFL career as a reciever.

I think it's borderline GOAT streak in sports.

I'm a true Favre hater...though he was quite generous to my Eagles during his Green Bay days...but I'd agree.

If we're talking longevity only it's the GOAT. It's not Dimaggio's 56 game hit streak, but it's not behind too many others.

agreed.

we all knew sooner or later he was going to miss a game this year. then again, we all know he shouldn't have came back this season. his ankle clearly didn't heal during the offseason.

i'm a favre hater, but i do have to say it is an impressive feat.

Incredible feat in my opinion.

What was it, a span of nearly 20 years?

It's an extremely impressive run and I have a hard time trying to rank it against Ripken's streak. Sure, Ripken wasn't annihilated every night by opposing defenses, but he played numerous times per week. The fact he didn't miss a single game when you are asked to perform on almost a nightly basis is also very impressive. I don't know which one is better, but I'm leaning slightly towards Cal Ripken Jr.
