The show's writing has become very frustrating ultimately. I am no longer attached to the show as I once was, and for good reason too, they do the same mistakes over and over without furthering the arc of the story.
Not to mention how they seem to miss cues and their cliffhangers are completely disjointed. It becomes tedious to watch this show rather than a joy.
I will refrain from spoilers for those who haven't seen it, but now we know who Negan kills. As explained after the show, the real drama is in the aftermath of the kill, realizing how to regroup and deal with the loss of someone.
There are maybe two parts in the episode that feel fake/forced, but the POV of the episode through ricks eyes was interesting. Negan showed up and literally cut out ricks legs from underneath him.
Can't wait for next week when the other half of the bull is grabbed!
The first 20 minutes or so were irritating because I thought they would keep us in suspense until the end about who, and then potentially kill off an underwhelming character. I'm glad the episode picked up and did not chicken out (mostly). There was a brief chicken out scene late, but even then it was a good scene.
This show is basically full on torture/gore porn at this point...and that's fine I guess. It has never had great writing or deep characters, so they might as well just embrace the shock value aspect.
Is anything big ever gonna happen though? Like on a large scale? Feels like it's the same shit every season.
that was brutal for a first episode...they were better off ending it on the death last season and make the new season more about regrouping and revenge.....
and comon...with the directing...rick had plenty of times to ax negan...and bullshit his way out of it with the other men...
Well that's part of it kind of having no real end goal. There's no ending to this realistically being that they have a lot of content to draw on, plus anything they can dream up. Really this could go on for a long time.
However I'm of the opinion that they need to start considering when they're going to start driving the show toward some type of climatic big end. Because 7 seasons is a long time for a show like this to be running.
