when half court sets begin, there are many things the US may not be able to adjust to

namely, the trapezoidal lane which disallows for deep post position unelss it is a crisp pass. why else did Duncan get so many three second violations?

second, traveling is more tightly called.

i also believe handchecks are also in place.

transition defense is also very tight.

and the rims are doubled rimmed are they not?

AppleNader, you damn fool. Why do you make a thread about international ball, then indirectly take shots at Dwyane Wade, the most humble superstar in the NBA? Why didnt you mention Kobe or Arenas or Carmelo, hogs who deserve ridicule? If any superstar has any chance of leading Team USA, it would be Wade or LeBron. Kobe will be the death of the US Olympic hopes.

You donít know ball if you think Kobe wouldnít be perfect for international play. Wade on the other hand will not be as effective not because he isnít humble but because he cant catch and shoot wont get foul calls and gambles too much on defense. Lebron will be fine but he will have a little trouble but will figure it out because he is just too big and too fast.

Did you all not watch last time? AppleNader is 100% correct. LeBron and Wade were being called for traveling and palming violations, on BREAKAWAYS. That's how unfundamental the US game has gotten, along with the fact the officials seemed overconcerned with not giving the US any calls to the point they shiitted them on a couple.

The 2008 Olympics is gonna suck cuz, none of America's BEST players are gonna play, and i don't know how our role players are gonna do, and Kobe Bryant's the captain. Oh Boy!
have you looked at the roster? they should have no probs bringing home the gold medal. and with Kobe "clutch" Bryant they have no excuses for not beating everyone!! REAL TALK!!

Now go tell your mommy that and see how she feels mister MAN!!

The future looks very bright with Oden anchoring the D and best recruiting classes to chose from in a long time.

Kobe Bryant and Paul pierce will be a scary combo in international competition that no team can match.

A long as the Coaches leave Wade on the IR and leave LeBron to be an impact 3rd player of the bench or something.

Team should be:

CT: Miller/ Howard
PF: Brand/ James
SF: Pierce/ Bowen
SG: Bryant/ Johnson
PG: Paul/ Arenas

That should do the trick.

Gold medal right there.

Left unsaid in this thread is that if Larry Brown had utilized his talent properly, its more likely than not that the team would have won the Gold. LB getting into spats with the players and dictating a playing style that didn't suit the players he had doomed this team -- not the lack of "superstar" calls or basic fundamental skills.

Spoken like someone who actually watched the games and knows something about basketball. Brown did to the Olympic team the same thing he did to the Knicks. He tried forcing the square peg that is/was his roster in the round hole that
is his philosophy.
