That was some funny news when it came out.
But really, how could one believe it's some sort of "secret missile launch"?

First off, you cannot launch a missile without telling the civil aviation administration because it's obviously too dangerous.

Secondly, if you want to keep it secret, you don't do it near LA.

Third, the simplest explanation is that it's an airplane.

My initial thought was that it was a plane, but then I would wonder why no one would have been able to, very quickly due to flight plans & radar, say "it was a plane, it was 'XXX' plane heading 'xxx'".
