Found a nice read......

Young Knicks benefit from Stat

I still think he can use more rest.

A player is usually gonna say they can play, even if they should be resting.

I really didn't think Amar'e had this kind of leadership in him.

Very glad Stat is a Knick.

“What I’m noticing is when the fourth quarter comes around, guys are really focusing in, really getting sharp defensively,” Stoudemire said. “That’s the tenacity we have to play with.”

I noticed that.
Not a few times we played great defensively in the 4th quarter.

For example, look at our last 4 games.
Points allowed in the 4th quarter:
vs Washington 15
vs Miami 15
@ Atlanta 20
vs Detroit 15

It's a shame that we can't play the whole game like this.

That's because they are doing it on their own.

If the coaching staff made defense a priority, they would make attempts throughout the game.

Too much emphasis is made on trying to score.

The thing is if they did play defense throughout the game, it would be much easier to score.

But they have to win the rebound battle.

It makes no difference, how well they defend if they give offensive rebound only to have to defend again.

We should have a game where we play a bum team and just let our starters chill.I know it may sound weird or even cocky but let's face it,we aren't going to overtake the elite teams in the playoffs and we are probably a comfortable distance away from the bottom dwellers so we are pretty much firmly placed in the 6 seed.I'd hate to see guys get burned out and it's not even the All Star break yet.You can already see guys are going to start developing nagging injuries.

I would love to see defensive/rebounding Knicks.

They could have rest during the game if they put it on teams they should beat.

Like the Cavs game for instance, we are the reason why they aren't on a thirty game losing streak.

Cleveland was getting blown out in damn near every game they played before us.

And we go in there, tired, not ready, what ever the reason, and lose in over time.

The bottom line is..... for the starters to get proper rest, they will have to impose a will on teams...early in the game.

They don't do it.

Even if your man beats you to the goal, or get their shot off, get the rebounds and don't give up second and third opps.

The Knicks could shave 10 points off their points allowed if they get the rebound.

Yes he did.

I don't know did you notice but he actually played defense.
He blocked 4 shots and he actually grabbed some rebounds that he would never grab before (before he was just waiting for the ball to come into his hands).

His defense isn't top notch but it is a great improvement, especially with Mozgov inside we looked like a solid defensive team.

Yup, some of those boards were in traffic.

He usually heads up the court the other way.

He isn't the Center, we need to always play one, shouldn't have our primary weapon the last man back.

Listen, his rebounding doesn't bother me too much.

He gets his share on average, comparable to most of other PF's.

I'm not talking about Love or Griffin types.

If I used today as an example, both teams shot well over 50%, not alot of boards to grab there.

He called out the team on Friday and backed up his talk.

I don't see it happening. Our team is full of nice guys.Im not mad at that.I love that we have class acts on our team.Gallo,Chandler,Amare,Fields...all stand up individuals. We need one A-hole on the team though.A KG type of guy.As someone who's been one, theres a difference between having the balls to call out your teammates and having the balls to call out your coach. It doesnt have to be publicly. We need a guy though who's gonna say "Hey,this style of play may be winning us some games now but it isn't WINNING BASKETBALL".We need to try a different approach and develop some sort of philosophy on defense.

I remember in HS we played this team and we were beating them like 15-2 to start the game. For some reason, their coach tells them to dribble the ball in one spot as soon as they get past half court.Theres no shot clock,so they literally could stand out there and kill minutes off the clock. My coach sends our sg out there to go chase him.The guy blows past him and scores. The next time down,it happens again. Now the sg was the captain (because I was very to myself). We call timeout and he's getting on his teammates about rotation and help defense. We go back out there, they do the same thing and blow past him,I swing over to help, they move the ball and eventually get an open 3.The next timeout gets called,he's screaming, the coach is screaming. Finally, after they took the lead,we called another timeout and I decided to call the coach out.I said to my coach, what is the point of us going out to chase the guy?We were up comfortably. It's clear that this is the only way they can score. Why let them use their only advantage? If we are up and they hold the ball, who cares? It's like a team taking a knee in a 2 minute drill.I got benched for most of the 3rd and
4th quarter and we lose like 27-23 in the most boring game I've ever witnessed.

Point being,it takes some guts to call out your teammates when they all know they aren't playing to their abilities. It takes an A-Hole with brass nuts to take the coach to task and say "hey this guy is human and he needs to be notified of his mistakes just like everyone else".Unfortunately,my team didn't have enough guys to man up liek I tried to do and I was outnumbered. Therefore,we lost by a football score and embarassed ourselves.

I hear what you're saying, it is a tough situation to be in and I applaud you for at least trying to do something. But some coaches are a-holes themselves and WILL NEVER admit if their wrong. (MD).
