Sorry Marlo, but you tend to go overboard on how good certain players are. You're obviously knowledgeable about the sport, but it seems you tend to go overboard a lot. I remember you said Jermichael Finley was going to have the best season a tight end has ever had, and the way he started the season, he wasn't even close. Foster is great no doubt, but it's a bit premature to declare him better than CJ, who is the primary focus of every defense Tennessee faces.

Jamaal Charles isn't "technically" even a starter and he's been arguably the best back in the league this year.

And notice I said "argument". Way to twist my words around, pal.

Arian Foster is the best running back in the league.

And i'm not even being a UT homer right there, he is just that good.

His size, speed, strength, and ability combo is better than anybody in this league.

Ray Rice hasn't been talked about a whole lot this season but he's still having a solid season after having 2k total yards last year. He deserves some love.

only 23...

he might be the real deal Holyfeild...

still wouldn't put him on the same level as AD or CJ though...yet

Charles needs some more carries. TJ has 15 more carries on the year and 300 fewer yards.

I understand they compliment each other and provide a good change of pace but, when someone is averaging 6.3 yards/carry and 11.1 yards/catch, you get him the ball as often as possible.

But that will wear him out, and he won't be nearly as big as a threat.

He has 5 games with 12 carries or less. I get they don't won't him to get beat up and worn out but that's just not acceptable to have someone that good with 10 or 11 carries.

In the 2 games he has 20+ carries he has had over 170 yards in each game.

Completely disagree that SJax is overrated. He is a warrior that plays through just about any injury and still produces. He doesn't get TD numbers because he has been on an awful team for his entire career, but put him on a high-octane offense like the Colts (when healthy), Texans... Even the Browns, running behind that line.

The Rams have suffered horrid injuries on a line that wasn't even good in the first place. Jackson is legit.

I guess Peyton Manning isn't a top five quarterback anymore, huh?

A better statistical season doesn't equate being better. First of all, rushing yards and rushing touchdowns and yards per carry are all subjective to your line, the weapons around you and the way the offensive coach calls plays around the endzone. Time and score have a role as well.

It's about doing it over and over again, not putting a crown on someones head after 11 games of football.

I do suspect that Arian has the talent, size and skill to be amongst the absolute elite backs in the league for years to come, I do generally agree with your post. He has to prove this is more than just a phantom season by producing over a number of years.

AP and CJ have proven that they would probably be elite backs on any team in the league by consistently producing and doing so while on less than mediocre teams.

Statistics only tell you so much. A couple of years ago, Steve Slaton was thought to be one of the best up-and-coming RBs in the entire league. He is now third string and close to being completely out of the NFL.

I don't think that will happen with Arian, but he still has more to prove. AP, CJ, MJD, SJax and Gore have virtually nothing to prove (less so with CJ since he has only been in the league for a couple of years).

Btw, to me the most underrated RB in the league isn't Jamaal Charles, but Rashard Mendenhall. It is surprising to me that Mendy generates such little buzz in the 'elite RB' discussion, because he plays for a marquee team.

But, he's run for 962 yards and nine TDs and he passes the 'look' test. His yards are not a product of an explosive offense or a 'system,' but his great vision and ability to cut on a dime. He also has deceptive speed and burst.

He rushed for over 1,000 yards and seven TDs last season and that is while only starting in 12 of 16 games.

I've been very impressed in the Steelers' games that I've been able to catch.

The AFC North features three backs that could all be considered 'elite' a few years from now (Rice, Mendenhall, Hillis).

Gore has to prove he can stay healthy...he is the new Ronnie Brown

Mendenhall has been alright, before this year started no one thought Jerry went wrong in taking Felix before him though...I don't think he will ever be 'elite" status...he doesn't have the skill set that Charles has...

Charles has speed similiar to CJ and Peterson...he ran a 4.36

Mendy is a slow bruiser...

speed kills in the NFL...and I am convinced 40 times "mean something"...it just doesn't guarentee anything...
