they only have 1.6 million people. They literally may have enough stadium room to seat the entire country after all the venues get built.

White elephants in the desert anyone?

I don't mind Russia winning the bid. Yes, they obviously won because they are most willing to take it up the ass from FIFA, but at least Russia is a country with football tradition and there is a lot of potential to expand the sport there.

Qatar hosting the WC is ludicrous.

It pieces me off to have a Formula 1 circuit in Abu dhabi, or a Brasil x Argentina in Quatar. And now a World Cup in quatar, wtf.Keep the world cup in places that actually like football.First Joao Havelange, now Joseph Blatter. If Ricardo Texeira become the new president of Fifa in a couple of years, the 2026 world cup will be in North Korea.

clearly for someone that is so passionate about soccer heritage you do not know the basics. Qater and the middleeastern countries are all about soccer/football. That is their sport. They are more soccer than Russia is.

i dont really support the decision but i know they have the money and the resources so its going to be great!! there wont be delays and crap to deal with like how it was with the olympics.

In fact, Qatar is a middle-of-the-pack national soccer team is AFC, a good team but won't beat any Asian powerhouses into WC itself. There is a Qatar kid who won Asian Player of The Year when he was only 18 in 2006.

Remember when Iraq won Asian Cup? Iraqis were so happy they accidentally shot people to dead while celebrating Iraqi style (aim their guns in the air and spray). They did pretty good jobs in 2009 Confed Cup also.

Well, England and USA have already hosted a world cup, so I can see why Russian and Qatar got it.. but I thought Australia would've gotten it..

We could host the 2026 or 2030 world cup.... I'll be an old fart..

You clearly dont know what you are talking about.People dont love football there. They pay for it.Russia is much more traditional, they have teams like Spartak, Lokomotiv, Rubin, CSKA and etc.People that actually likes soccer. For you is going to be great. I dont like. They have the money and the resources and it will be empty.Just like the f1 circuit in the middle of the desert.
