Boston pitching is still suspect. They'll hit a lot of homers, no doubt.
Poor Tampa Bay though. They are losing everybody almost.
They won't be as bad as they used to be since they still have good young pitching, but maybe if their fans actually supported their team, they could of had some money to offer these players.
The Yankees have no choice but to give Lee what he wants at this point, they had all the leverage with Jeter and have none now with Lee.. can you say karma? I would expect Lee to demand a 7yr deal around $150-160 since he knows the yanks have no choice but to say yes.
as a yankee fan im happy. i think thats a horrible contract and im glad the yankees werent the ones to sign it. his game is based on speed and hes bound to lose some as he gets up in age. besides that he isnt a superstar and hes makin superstar money. id rather pay gardner 1 mill than 20 to crawford. sh*t if i could id try to avoid any big contracts right now until the market calms down. im sure theyll throw some money at lee but thatd probably look like a bargain compaired to werth and crawford

But did anyone else think the Gonzalez signing was a little strange too? The Sox gave up 3 prospects for Gonzales and need to sig nhim to a huge deal. Beltre was already here and wanted to re-sign with the Red Sox. These are each players stats last year.
Adrian Beltre
BA HR RBI OBP SLG
.321 28 102 .365 .553
Adrian Gonzalez
BA HR RBI OBP SLG
.298 31 101 .393 .511
I don't know how the Red Sox tap into all this revenue in a 37,000 seat near 100 year old stadium, but something tells me that the fans will be paying the price when they have to forgo a car payment to take a family of 4 to a game.
On the baseball side of things, Crawford is a fantastic player, but Fenway is a bandbox, so how useful will he speed in the outfield be? Also, will you want him stealing bases with Ortiz/Gonzalez, etc batting?
