Honestly the whole girl/boy romantic story shit needs to be taken out of these Transformers movies along with 90% of the human shit that doesn't belong in these films in the first place. It just boggles the mind how the actresses of these films get more press than the actual ****ing Transformers.
Even if this movie is half way decent, it will suck to watch it.
Because it will be in 3-D, and as we all know Bay isn't the best at shooting anything. And as some have already noted, the robots in these films sucks.
One can't make out what the hell they are when they're fighting. All we see is... I mean... all we hear is metal loudly clanking. When they wrestle (is that what they're doing?) we can't differentiate between which is which, it just seems like a pile of metal colliding.
Another aspect of Bay's filming style, is his fast paced editing and camera zooming. This type of shooting style doesn't fare well for 3-D films. Why? because there's no focus on like anything since everything is moving too fast. As it is, 3-D gives watchers some nauseating experiences. If you want people to get very sick get the them dizzier with this type of shooting and editing styles. I doubt the majority of audiences will be able to sit through 30 minutes of the movie before they feel sick.
But possibly the top reason why this 3-D film will fail for most.....
It will be darkly lit.
Watching poorly lit scenes in 3-D is kinda redundant, since one can't make out what the hell it is they're watching. It works better in a non 3-D film because it aint all in your face. But when it is in your face, it makes it hard to see shadows or the outline of objects, which makes it hard to fully well... see. So combining Bay's fast style of shooting and editing, with bad robot CGI, and poorly lit scenes, even if this movie is half way decent it'll be hard to watch.
Unless, Bay give complete control to more experienced cinematographers, editors, and graphic artists with experience in 3-D filmmaking.
I also agree with other posts that his trailers are often better than his films. Btw.... this trailer aint too much different than other trailers about space and the 'there's something out there' films.... its actually kinda cliched.
IMO the trailers for 1 and 3 are better than the movies. That isn't saying much though.
Can anyone even tell me what the point of Stevens Witwicky is in these movies? Why in the hell should I care about some dumb, annoying kid that wants on with a vapid hot chick? And why oh must I suffer through the idiot parents? The mother in the second especially is insufferable. The whole pot brownie gag came off like it was written by a clueless 60 year old man. I came to see some damn monster robots blow shit apart, not this pitiful excuse for comedy.
I actually think the GI Joe movie was done better (not a compliment) and don't understand the popularity of these films.
at the end of T2, i LOLed when michael bay tried to do that "emotional" scene with the parents!
Dooms just jizzed, crazy CGI AND moon land conspiracies?! That's too much.
actually the rumor is that if these guys really did land on the moon... and I'm not sure if they did or didn't... but if they did the first flag on the moon was the United States flag, but a Masonic Flag... and they had a nice little ceremony up there when they posted it.
Please tell me someone has seen the Nick Swardson stand-up special "Seriously Who Farted"
OTC always reminds me of the schtick he does about the Transformers movies. I thought they were entertaining.... obviously not Oscar-worthy but come on people lighten the f*ck up..... and am definitely looking forward to the third installation.
