we are all waiting for them to do what they should be doing also they are pretty much both running away from a challenge and coming up with excuses

Garnett/Lewis - yeah they both have the intensity and dedication to defense, but Lewis is pure physicality and aggression, while Garnett only projects that verbally. In the end Garnett is a finesse PF, while nobody ever would call Ray Lewis a finesse player.

This one always comes up in my head when this topic is talked about:

Didier Drogba and Tracy Mcgrady.

Both have/had what should be legendary physical skills and talent, and they have been on top of their game for a period of time. Unstoppable if they put their minds to it.

BUT both never seem to have that mental aspect, they both I think showed a bit of apathy at times and never really got their minds right. Now both are really good. But I feel their similar weakness was the focus, and they've squandered their talents a bit.

An obvious one is Tiger Woods and Micheal Jordan. Both the best in their respective sports, both with dominating primes, both elevated their sport to a new level of interest and both were Nike's breadwinner at one point.

But also both have an OCD drive to be better than everyone else, to a point where they take it too far. Both seem distant to a lot of people, and I would imagine both are similar in personality.

Tom Brady and David Beckham

- Both are very skillful at their positions.
- Both have great throwing/kicking accuracy.
- Both won multiple championships.
- Both were coached by the games' greats (Bill Belichick, Alex Ferguson)
- Both are good-looking.
- Both have beautiful wives.
- Both wives seem to dictate their fashion senses after married.

They are as close as the current generation's athletes could bring to MJ.... but he's still in a league of his own.

Absolutely and completely transcended the sport of basketball. No athlete will ever have the "wanna be like Mike" like MJ had.... I mean he was in a successful Looney Tunes movie for crying out loud.

Jordan was more than a basketball player. He was a global icon.

Yea but Drogba has won titles... Sure not the Champion's league, but at least he's gotten out of the first round

Well I would argue that Tiger Woods reached that level of popularity before the whole debacle.

But yeah MJ was unreal as an icon.

Does anyone remember that final against Man U where he got ejected?

It was like the 80th minute or something. And Drogba took a pass with his back to the goal and at the top of the box and then just turned and fired this frozen rope and it either hit the cross or was a couple inches over it? For some reason that's burned in my memory.

That would have been bananas if that went in, that was a crazy game. Even if Man U won.

Matt Leinart if he had prodigal game

and

Anthony Kim.

Haha. Basically I'd pick Kim as the next major star but... he would rather party then get serious.

And he's STILL as good as he is. Man the future of golf is bright!

Jay Cutler and Monta Ellis. Both are high flyers who try to make crazy offensive plays that fail most of the time.

Kobe Bryant and Roger Federer (older but still considered best by some)

LeBron James and Rafael Nadal (Super talented young guy who most people are saying is overtaking the older guy)

Amare Stoudemire and Andy Roddick (both are power players)
