Default who miss the east coast/west coast rivalry?

zay's thread reminded me of the good old days

posters from the 90s feeling me on this. I'm talking about the heyday of pac vs biggie, bad boys vs. death row etc in the 90s. There's was a tangible and palpable excitment about rap music then. Like if you listening to the wrong track, you might wind up with a bullet in yo back. It heightened and elevated the impact of the music.

now rap is just music no longer a lifestyle.

Well I don't want anyone getting shot but I know what you mean about it not being as exciting as it once was. I for one don't feel anyone has to die just because rappers beef. I love diss tracks. I mean, for crying out loud we don't get Ether if Jay and Nas don't fued. Can't forget Hit'Em Up either. Classic tunes that were more than just songs.

I dont miss the violence, it did end up with multiple lives lost over nothing, but I do miss each region collaborating with each other and having a unique sound. You hear NY rappers talk about how they are flat out for what ever reason not working with each other as much as they used to and that's why NY fell off.

LA fell off the hardest though, if it wasnt for the Game/Cube and , I wouldnt even think of LA when it comes to hip hop. Where is the next generation?

Don't want to make a new thread for one song. But how about this classic west coast hit. I hadn't heard it in so long my jaw dropped when I heard it.

Is bishop lamont ever going to release an album? The sad thing is if you take all the songs I've heard since I'm a soldier on NFL Street 2, he could have had like 8.

Edit: No, I don't miss East Coast/West Coast Rivalry but it was great battle back then unlike whack ass battle nowadays. Imagine if Pac and Bigge reached out before shit get out of control, both would alive.

There are very little hip hop artists/rappers who are singing about things other than a new made up dance, or bling, or bitche$, or money, or superficial stuff that like. I miss when rap made people think, and not just about what they are talking about, but what they are saying.

Kanye had it, but now is more filled with trying to be the biggest ass on the block. Mos Def got it, but with the dwindling rap #'s, he might as well go into acting.

Pac was at his best when he was talking about the struggle, then blew up across the board with the diss records. Pac made people think, and that is what today's music is missing. I don't wanna think about the latest drink thats coming out, or the latest fashion fad. I wanna think about how today's world is different from the world we lived in 50 years ago, but how the struggles are the same, like racism, poverty, bigotry, drug abuse, children being forgetten, that are all prevalent today.

I miss the quality of rap when the ec/wc was in its top form, but I don't miss the violence that it created. Big L was strong lyricist I wanted to see tackle today's weak rap, Biggie, Pac, all the great ones who missed their primes because of senseless violence. Hip Hop was negatively effected by beefs, but the records sold...

Pac would still probably be dead but Biggie would have been alive.

Us West Coast cats were always punching above our weight. We got gully cuz of the G Funk popularity, but unfortunately, it didn't last.

but I feel you about the music man. Ever since big corporations took over, rap music has become bubblegum and manufactured. Whether it's lil wayne or souljia boy, you see the same hands up the puppets @ss.

Mobb deep, wu tang, eric b, rakim, kool g rap, pac, biggie, etc. 90s unparalleld.

how do the west coast cats feel about the hyphy movement that was strong a couple of years ago?
