Just my opinion, understandable if you don't agree with some choices.

Sorry just had to get that out the way.

What makes my list laughable and yours not?

We have 4 of the same people in similar positions, and your others are West Coast/Southern artists, I'm just not generally a fan of west coast or southern rap music with some exceptions. Pun & 3 Stacks almost made my list.

Jay-Z is very, very overrated in this thread.

Really. What a clown. Budden is a true ARTIST. You know I had The Ghost,Paniro,The Hardest Out in my list as well as Beanie... I like that gritty lyricism that has some real ish attached to it. Beans and SP have made some very heartfelt tracks along with their hard tracks, hence why they are in my favs. Well-rounded

Nah not really. Just because he's been mainstream for years, dude has some very creative and introspective work.

Skill isnt the only measure in greatness, impact and popularity play a huge part as well. Stop putting Joe Budden on these lists.

I based mine off of the connection I feel with the tunes. Not necessarily what I feel to be the 10 'greatest' to ever spit. Hell, there's prolly some no-name somewhere who I could vibe with more than the ultra-talented Eminem. For me, it's the connection and association formed, not necessarily the 10 most skilled or intelligent or whatever

Why? He's very talented lyrically and spits raw human emotion with no apologies or sugar-coating for his checkered past. Music is the bridge between the mind and soul and Budden shows both with proficient poignancy

That's very touching, but at the end of the day, you are great because of your impact. Budden might be on the most skillful list, but not the greatest. There have too many artists that have put in work to make hip hop the widespread, mainstream artform it is today while displaying great amounts of skill. I dont see any reason when including impact, why Budden should be included.

I understand the basis of this thread, I was merely stating who my favorites are, not the GOATS of all things considered. Impact is certainly key and Pac had some of the greatest impact of anyone to get on a microphone. I don't feel his bars are the most creative though

No order:

Nas
Q-Tip
Biggie
Andre 3000
Tupac
Black Thought
Chuck D
Phonte
Eminem
Snoop

This would change weekly tho.

And this is obviously personal favorites. I just don't see much of a point about splitting hairs in a subjective conversation like who's the "greatest" artists. The conversation has such an undefined and variable set of determinants that it all pretty much winds down to personal preferences anyway.

Pac bars werent creative(A-B,A-A-B), but they were clearly thought out and phrase in cohesive manner. When he rapped, you knew exactly what he was talking about and he could make you feel whatever emotions the song was supposed to convey.

I value that more than rappers who try have an insane amount of multi's and you have listen to the song over and over or google the lyrics to realize what the hell they are talking about.
