Communists in the United States are retarded.

In America, you can choose your political beliefs.

But in China and North Korea, you're a communist, sorry.

They would probably like to choose something else as well.

I don't really get how you can choose your political beliefs in one country but not in another. Whatever happens, your life is still abiding to the rules and regulations of the current government in power, and whatever you "Believe" in, doesn't change what's actually happening to you.

And communism isn't a bad idea, but most Americans don't even understand the concept properly and just go with the old view of "EEEEVILL!"

I know, that is dumb.

I think Capitalism vs Socialism and Democracy vs Republic are actually rational choices, rather than choosing oppression.

Conceptually, it seems like a great idea. In practice, it has never really worked out all that well. It just does not seem that the human condition is far along enough to avoid power-hungry politicians turning a communist society into a dictatorship with all of the power given to very few.

In a true communist society, everyone would be equal... From the random guy in the street to Fidel Castro running the state. It looks great on paper, but I'm not sure we are capable of really instituting it with success.

The best societies, imo, take a little out of communist policy, a little out of socialism, some out of capitalism and round it out with a true democracy. As we stand today, it seems the countries with a nice mix are the most stable.

Communism is a movement and socialism is an economic system. They are not mutually exclusive. In fact, it would be difficult to have one without the other.

Communism is all about a society without classes and without state oversight. It stresses common ownership and distribution based on needs. That is where the socialism comes in, because it dictates how a society could go about implementing this system.

It isn't that communism is 'not humanly possible,' it is just that humans have yet to do it successfully. Maybe as we evolve beyond our predatory, natural 'power-hungry' impulses, we could achieve it... We are not there yet.

Isn't it funny how the whole country "chooses" to believe in democracy? You believe in the system that puts a roof over your head and food in the stomach. Meanwhile you can work your asses off at a meaningless job and take like .0003% of the money used in government spending, and media costs, then come home and watch sports. Nice life.

It is difficult to implement a political system perfectly. We are not a true, complete capitalistic society... And, the truth is, absolute capitalism would be as big a disaster (if not worse) than absolute communism. That goes back to my above post about finding a good mix.

To my knowledge, there has never been an example of absolute capitalism in human history either... Same goes for communism... And absolute socialism.

Political beliefs are pretty meaningless pursuits. Communist believe in universal equality but their belief system is based on their moral judgement of the world.

Theres a fantasy academic discussion over politics because people don't understand that leadership favors coercion. The only differences thus are what is permissible in any country at the moment, which implies the reservation of absolute authority. Limits such as natural rights are symbolic illusions which lack basis in reality.

My belief is that there are only two political systems tyranny and anarchy.

Overstating things a bit? I suppose you would label the US a 'tyranny'? It certainly isn't anarchy.

The problem with that stance is that tyranny implies an absolute ruler or dictator. The way that our checks and balances work, that isn't possible here. Congress can literally render the executive branch useless. If it is tyranny, who is the dictator?
