Default Shakira is the Prince of our generation

She keeps experimenting with new styles of music every album.

Despite people who don't listen to her music and assume her as a manufactured talentless diva with no talent like Britney Spears, Shakira actually writes all of her own songs, writes her own choreography and sings live. She also plays guitar and has full control over all music and videos she puts out. She is not getting as much credit as she deserves these days but in a few years she will be given as much credibility as prince is by the music afficianados of the world.

Look at all of these genres she explores

Don't forget about her huge international smash hits Waka Waka, La Tortura and Hips don't lie. Now that I think about it she is abit like Bob Marley-a third world superstar with huge talent and appeal. A female hybrid of Bob Marley and Prince

Her English lyrics sometimes aren't the greatest but in Spanish they are much better and deeper

Time the Prince/Bob Marley of our generation gets the praise that she deserves.

Why are people laughing at Sergio's comment about her lyrics being better in Spanish?

THEY ARE!

She still thinks and feels in the Spanish language (her native language), she just learned English when her first English single came out. Most of the lyrics get lost in translation and won't have the same meaning, won't sound the same in the song's arrangement etc.etc.

Now.... I don't think she's this generation's Prince, because Prince not only wrote all of his music, he produced it, performed it, recorded, mixed it, mastered it etc.etc.

I do agree that she is one of the most eclectic artists in the world, even tho her recent urban influence is horrible. I think she should go back to her Spanish Rock roots which is what made her who she is.

But they are 'better' in Spanish.

And they don't suck. She has her moments in which she really shines, and was actually known as a greta songwriter when she first started.

I don't think you actually believe that. You just like to make bold statements that are bound to ruffle some feathers.

Yeh spanish have a racist bias against south americans for some reason, in spanish her songs are much better and dont have as many wtf did she say lines like her english songs do

Shakira doesnt produce or compose like her older songs but she writes the lyrics and tune then works with producers to compose. Also she doesnt have an urban influence in her new music other than give it up to me, she's also finding a bunch of shit like korean drum music, indian music and also Loba which is nothing, just really unique and good
