Top 3 teams in the west- Lakers, Spurs, Mavs

I would not be surpised if the Lakers or Mavs put the Spurs out the playoffs.

Hornets, Nuggets, or Thunder will probably knock the Mavs out in the early rounds. I still don't believe Dallas is anything besides 1st/2nd round fodder(like they've been the past four years)

I think the Mavs are the best matchups against LA, though not the best team. They have multiple good defensive bigs, and they're mostly pretty tough, and that's what you need more then anything to beat LA. That's why LA has struggled with Portland the last few years.

2000 Lakers (#1 defense in NBA)
2003 Spurs (#3 defense in NBA)
2004 Pistons (#2 defense in NBA)
2005 Spurs (#1 defense in NBA)
2007 Spurs (#2 defense in NBA)
2008 Celtics (#1 defense in NBA)

Even the last two Lakers titles, they were the #6 and #4 defense in the NBA those respective years.

Six of the last 11 titles from from teams with top 3 defenses in the league. 7 of the last 11 were top 4 defense. 8 of them, top 6. 10 of 11 top 10 defenses. The only team that wasn't a top 10 defense was the '01 Lakers.

Way to go Spurs fan...keep thinking the Spurs are gonna go deep in the playoff trying to outscore teams you see how far the Mavs and Suns went playing that style.

Don't talk sh*t about he Mavs untill the Spurs are in the top 10 or top 5 defensive teams in the NBA like the Mavs are.

You are right.
Spurs are one of the most successful teams in this decade and first in league right now but it's important that Mavs are better ranked in defense

Aside from that, please don't even dare compare the Spurs to the failures that are the Mavs or Suns.

The Spurs may not be the dominant defensive team they were 5 years ago but they sure as hell much better defenders than the Mavs and Suns you're comparing them to.

The Spurs have the third best margin of victory.

Oh yeah, the Spurs have a head coach named Gregg Popovich.
