Utah 101, Milwaukee 88
SALT LAKE CITY, Dec. 4 (AP) -- The Utah Jazz kept Michael Redd from leading the Milwaukee Bucks to another big comeback.

The Jazz held Redd to two points in the second half and 18 points total in a 101-88 Monday night, playing Jerry Sloan's kind of defense in honor of his 999th coaching victory.

``Our guys tried very hard to keep him from getting every opportunity,'' Sloan said.

Carlos Boozer had 30 points and 13 rebounds and Mehmet Okur scored 17 points and pulled down 13 rebounds in Utah's 15th 100-point game this season.

Andrei Kirilenko scored 14 and Deron Williams had 11 points and eight assists for the Jazz, who will try to make Sloan the fifth coach to reach 1,000 victories Friday at Minnesota.

The Jazz swept the Bucks for the second straight year and had a much easier time Monday than in the first meeting. On Nov. 11 in Milwaukee, Redd scored 57 and led the Bucks back from a 24-point deficit before Matt Harpring won it for Utah on a layup with 1.9 seconds left.

Redd looked like he was headed for another big game with 16 points in the first half Monday, but went 1-for-6 in the last two quarters.

``They did a great job of surrounding me,'' Redd said.

The Jazz shot 73 percent (11-for-15) in the third quarter and outrebounded the Bucks 48-34 for the game.

Charlie Bell led Milwaukee with 23 points.

Utah took a 28-point lead this time in the third quarter and the margin was at least 13 the rest of the way. Shutting down Redd made it a whole lot easier.

``One-on-one, you can't guard him. He proved that in the first game,'' Boozer said. ``We did a good job - especially in the second half.''

Kirilenko and Derek Fisher were on Redd for most of the game.

``I think we did a pretty good job in the whole game,'' said Kirilenko, who also had five assists. ``We keep the score a little bit better and finally we won the game.''

The Jazz used a 12-2 run from the end of the second quarter to early in the third to pull away from the Bucks.

After center Andrew Bogut made a layup to cut the margin to 67-50, the Jazz took off on another 12-2 run. Boozer made a layup, two free throws and a dunk and Okur capped it with a long jumper that put Utah ahead 79-52.

Bell made a 3-pointer, converted a three-point play and hit another three in three straight possessions for the Bucks, but Utah still led 86-64 at the end of the third.

The Bucks made another run midway through the fourth with seven straight points. David Noel made two free throws, Brian Skinner had a layup and Ersan Ilyasova made a 3-pointer with 7:03 that got the Bucks within 94-80.

Milwaukee got back within 96-82 on a putback by Noel, but Boozer followed with a jumper in the lane, then a dunk off a pass from Kirilenko bounced between his own legs.

``As long as he stays in what we're doing, he's been terrific,'' Sloan said. ``He's still big and long and can do a lot of different things that most players that size don't have the ability to do.''

Notes: Sloan is 999-662 in his career. ... Utah rookie Dee Brown had a career high seven points, five more than he had ever scored in an NBA game. ... Former Jazz G Mo Williams left the game after the first half with a lower back injury. Williams had five assists. ... Utah scored 100 points for the 15th time in 19 games this season.

Funny, I have a life.... I miss game threads on the weekends cause I'm never home. I'm not on ISH when the Jazz are playing, I'm watchin' on LP. Oh yeah, and the last time I checked, message boards are full of people that don't know each other... go figure
