As was mentioned in the NBA forum, the Cavs have offered him a job.

Here's his interview this morning on The Early Show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=acXnoNDv3WU

He cleaned up well and gets emotional when mentioning his mom. Original vid already has over 5 million hits in 2 days.

I saw this when it was first posted on break and i was thinking to myself "Damn, give this guy a job". Pretty much agree with Meticode. He seems fairly intelligent. I'm glad he got a job and a house now, i just hope he doesn't fall back into drugs.

Agreed. All you can do is give the guy a second chance and hope he makes the most of it.

Best of luck to him.

I cannot believe the Cavaliers offered him a job. That's freaking awesome. Here's the ESPN article, if it wasn't posted...

He's also reportedly getting offers from NFL Films.

They showed this clip on the breakfast/news TV show here in Australia this morning. Stuff like this normally takes ages to filter through to show's like that. He'll be getting interviewed on Oz tv within the week I'm sure. Dude will be homeless no more. Good stuff. Seems like a good guy.

When I saw that the Cav's offered him a job -- i thought cool ,but does he know bball.

then I thought Cav's couldn't get the king , so they take the homeless guy..

Bottom line it's one of the times when youtube does good for someone in need

Why in heavens name is the businessman bothered at this point? Does he hope everyone who is down and out, who has upset him, remains down and out? A new job and a fresh start sound like the things needed to get Williams out of his hair.

yeah, he does have a point if Williams was being inappropiate. there's homeless, & there's transient.

anyway, this is good news (below). although, Dan Gilbert & the "sketchy details" put this in perspective.

Quote:
...Marek conceded later, before the arrest record surfaced, that the Cavs didn't do a background check on Williams.

"We're going to start with our heart first and start from the perspective that this is an amazing individual who has a lot of components in him that represent who we are and what our DNA is," Marek said. "Certainly there are realities of a viral- and Internet-based world, but those are kinds of things we have to work through, get him out here and really have the opportunity to dig into those details."

A Cavaliers spokesman said the job offer still stands despite the AP obtaining his lengthy arrest sheet. He has served time in prison for theft and forgery and has been cited with numerous misdemeanors.

Two days ago, Williams was an unknown homeless man enduring another frigid winter in Columbus. Today, he is the hottest name in America, an Internet sensation and perhaps soon to be a very rich man.

He told the AP his life began crumbling in 1996, when he began drinking alcohol "pretty bad." He used marijuana and cocaine and lost interest in his career.

In an effort to find him work and get him off the streets, the original Dispatch video was uploaded to YouTube and quickly exploded. By Wednesday afternoon, it was viewed by 4.5 million people. Williams was brought into a Columbus radio station Wednesday morning, where the Cavs presented their offer over the phone. Then he was whisked away to New York City, where Inside Edition wanted to talk to him. MTV is also reportedly interested in him.

The Cavs' details of the job offer were fuzzy, and Marek repeatedly said they were still "working through the details."

Marek said Cavs owner Dan Gilbert, who also owns Quicken Loans, was part of the committee that decided to extend the offer to Williams.

Part of the deal included assisting with housing through Quicken Loans, although details of that are sketchy, too.

"We know that with the position working at the Cavs and being an announcer, with that will come a housing need," said Jeff Perry, vice president and regional manager for the Quicken Loans branch in Cleveland. "We're going to help him in any way we can."

"This has been totally, totally amazing," Williams said. "I'm just so thankful. God has blessed me so deeply. I'm getting a second chance. Amazing."
