I think the top 5 would be something like Chris Johnson, Desean Jackson, Mike Wallace, Heyward-Bey, and Greg Jennings.

There will probably be days when Ginn runs a 4.38 (like he did at the combine) and days when CJ runs a 4.40. One 40 time on one day isn't the be-all and end-all.

They really should have an annual 40-yard dash race at the Pro Bowl with all of the fastest players. My money might be on Ginn. In fact, my money would definitely be on him in the 100-meter dash.

He was recruited to OSU, in part, by the track coach. It was a common belief that he could have made the Olympic team in the 100 if he would have devoted himself to getting there. Instead, he chose football (smart decision).

He was timed at 10.02 in the 100 during high school. That is CRAZY fast... Olympic fast. He was also the high school national champion in the 110 high hurdles... as a JUNIOR.

Even though it's not really worth it, I wish they would use FAT to time the 40s. The hand timing they do now is prone to error and is only accurate to a tenth of a second.

I believe that 10.02 for the flat 100 was unofficial, but he was def on track to be Olympic caliber hurdler.

Being a track guy, I've always wondered what NFL players could do if they went back and became sprinters. I feel like Usain Bolt wouldn't be alone anymore in the record books.

From what I've seen it is Chris Johnson but I might be a bit biased as a Titans fan. In 09 CJ was ridiculous and would out run everyone even if they had a great angle on him. In 2010 he looked much slower but I'm not sure how much that has to do with how terrible the O-line became/turmoil within the team.

I believe they use FAT for the combine and pro days, do they not? I know that most timed 40s for NFL players are hand-timed, which makes them nearly worthless, but the combine and pro days are different, I believe... Could be wrong.

Also, I believe that 10.02 was official. I will have to do some research... Let me see if I can find it. He traveled the country for track when he was at Glenville and his times were mind-blowing.... Especially in the hurdles.

I agree with you in that FAT should be used in any timed run on this level. I'm not sure why they don't use it more. I guess they must think that hundredths of a second aren't all that important... But I would disagree.

Got negged for this and someone signed it under Pete's name.

And yes I know what I'm saying there for whoever it was. I'm stating that I don't care how fast a player is if he can't use it to make plays. Ginn could be in the Olympics and gets like 1 TD a year. Shits weak and therefore I give him the snub.

combine numbers have been electric since 1989...Deion ran a 4.21 that year, the last year it was hand timed...

RBA, the list of players that ran track in the NFL is a very long one, I don't doubt that Ginn is up there but I don't think his history with track should be a reason to think so...

Mike Wallace. That ****er gets down the field so fast its scary. He's averaging 21 yards per catch too. Ridiculous.
