I'm happy that Demar is participating in the game this year. I think being in the rookie/sophomore game + the dunk contest will not only give him some added confidence, but also rubbing shoulders with all these all-star/superstar players all weekend will give him something big to work towards.

Yeah.. It just seems like he belongs with the crowd.

I wasn't too impressed by his play in the Rookie/Sophomore game. Harden and Blair really hogged the ball a lot I found. The rookies played more like a team with Wall running the show.

DeRozan was trying to play within the flow of the game.. while everyone else was just trying to do it themselves. DeRozan might have had the ball once in the second half..

Yeah, it actually seemed like he was playing it as if it was a regular season game rather than an exhibition.

Thought Demar had the nicest dunk of the night.

Javal's two rim dunk second.

Ibaka's free throw line third.

Too bad the contest was rigged for Blake to win.

Derozan screwed himself by messing up that first dunk. Otherwise it should've been him and Blake in the final.

I said it weeks ago.

There was no way the NBA's new golden boy was going to lose this. This was all to market Griffin.

But Blake's third dunk was almost identical to Demar's 1st dunk, not to mention Demar's was a lot harder and took about the same amount of tries

He messed up because he doesn't know how to hype a crowd. From a technical standpoint, he was as good as any of the rest of them.

The dunk contest is like professional wrestling. It's becoming more reliant on theater than anything else.

Maybe so, but MJ, Dominique, Vince, they had a certain stage presence that Demar just doesn't seem to possess. Maybe it's just me, but even when he did that incredible 2nd dunk it was great with the technical difficulty but it was missing that certain flair.

The other main difference is that all those guys were star players. They instantly entered each contest with a buzz. Derozan is an ok starter on one of the worst teams in the league. I can't think of much that he could do.
