I dont know if anyone else saw this cuz it's kinda swept under the rug but apparently DWILL got traded to the Nets for Devin Harris,Derrick Favors and 2 1st round picks.
It's so weird cuz no1 reported it really and it's not "big news".it was like someone said Scalabrine is being traded for Matt Bonner lol Better yet,like we traded Anthony Carter and a 2022 2nd round pick for Duhon and cash considerations lmao.
I prefer CP3. Williams is a scorer and we have enough of that. CP3 needs to understand his role and his role is to make plays for Melo and STAT and be a captain.
I don't see where Williams came in the picture though. He basically came in when the rumors said he wanted to come to NY. Also, I prefer CP3's leadership & ball handling skills to distribute the ball. If anything, he was our main objective & still is. With Melo & Amare on the same team his good friends, he's going to want in. Unless he plays lone wolf & trys to out gun Miami & the other high ranked teams alone.
It's a gut instinct that says he's coming to NY & I KNOW that is for a fact. For now I would would worry about aquiring our real pieces & let CP3 walk into our arms. The combo of Billups/Amare/Melo can last & throughout the time being, we can then replace him whatever these three achieved we can wait till then to put a definite stop to it.
I could care less.I'd personally rather Deron Williams OVER CP3 but either will do. It's like making me choose between Beyonce and Alicia Keys.That being said,I don't get how ppl claim NJ screwed us over.We DID NOT overspend for Melo.PPL keep saying we gave up 4 starters.Only 2 started all season.Chandler is an upcoming free agent who would have soaked up money.Gallo is gonna want around what David Lee got @ least, next year.Felton and Billups really cancel each other out and Mozgov's had maybe two good games all year.The pick isn't a lottery pick and it's a weak draft.We got to keep Fields and dont lose a position in our starting lineup at all.We're still in the same position we were before but with Melo.We still need a Center and a backup pg.So I really don't get how we "gave up so much".We have the same bench + Corey Brewer.If Melo signed here as a Free Agent,we probably wouldn't have re-signed Chandler anyway and Gallo woulda been coming off the bench or someone woulda been playing outta position.I can show you a quick fix to replace Gallo somewhat with a similar guy.Josh McRoberts.I know he's not as good but they have very similar skill sets and McRoberts is going to be cheaper.
If you want firepower off the bench,go out and sign JR Smith this summer.
