You dont just get smart and dumb game by game.I think the ppl who are commenting on his IQ are just proving you don't judge an entire career on one game. His track record and body of work prove that he's a big time scorer, clutch and sometimey on defense.
Listen. Carmelo Anthony isn't the issue. When you force a player with low IQ into the clutch, you need a coach with the IQ enough to put him in the play making to be a complete play. It's a 60% chance Carmelo can get this done by himself without the coach. It's like were playing 60% & 40% has always been gone because our coach doesn't know how to substitute, doesn't know how to tell his guys to play man to man defense who to let free & who not to let free.
Were letting Ray Allen open on the left wing, that's how we lost what Game 2? They continue to leave him open. You guard Allen, he isn't more then just a 3 point player, yes he can drive, no he can't penetrate when guarded.
The coach needs ONE star player on the court at a time. A combination of:
Melo/ 4 man line up
Amare/ 4 man line up
Billups/ Douglas 3 man line up
Jeffries should never be braught into the 5 man line up, he's a substitue & a back up nothing more but this. Sheldon Williams is better, he should be out there.
Why is Carmelo continuously chucking up threes? The amount of threes our team takes can go to 2 point conversion, a & 1, giving the opponent a foul, & momentum on the other end.
The only mid range shooter should be Carmelo, Amare shouldn't be taking jumpers only when left wide open, he should attack he is a big body FAST player who can be as quick as he wants we've seen him go 1 on 1 & 2 on 1, he does the best doing this, check all of his 30+ point games he's been doing that, lately he isn't.
News flash, this team won't go anywhere without the right leadership. Knicks fans were nothing more but season warriors now, we went from a 20+ win season to a 40+ win season, honestly I can give 2 shits about our wins. After free agency we need to REBUILD this roster. sorround true players around our big 3. Why is it I feel more comfortable with Douglas on the floor then anyone lately especially Billups? He's the most IMPROVED player on our team. He needs to start, & finish in the clutch. Raise this kid to become clutch, teach him how to be a leader.
Our team will NOT advance, who gives a flying shit if we do or not. Be lucky we don't get SWEPT.
We have seen he is willing, it's up to him and the coach to bring it all game.
Plus the man he is guarding, Paul Pierce, has not been the one who is killing us.
Paul Pierce has not had anything close to a "good series" so far.
1)Does Melo look lost on the court?
2)Is Melo the culprit of broken plays?
That's the best way to identify a player's IQ.
We lost game 2 because Stat and Billups couldn't give the team any useful time on the court.
Melo plus the bench...that's it.
Fields should have been on the court the entire time with Melo.
The only player that has kept Ray Allen in check is the one guy no one wants to give credit for it.....Landry Fields.
I don't think Allen has scored a single point with Landry on him.
I know for a fact he didn't in game one.
Stat and Melo need to play together as much as possible.
Teams only double when they are not on the floor together.
Stat and Melo on the floor together makes it easier for both to SCORE and DEFEND.
He has unlimited range, and has hit them better than any other time he was in Denver (well over 40%), hit 4-8 from three, with an unlimited option mode in game 2, so apparently he had the skillset all the time, and it was wasted under Karl.
I recall in a recent interview when asked about his prolific three point shooting, and apparent infinite range, Melo stated " mr range is the hash Mark, but D'antoni might have fits".
This Celtic team is beatable, they are winning with HCA another word for REF influence, and late game heroics.
Our incomplete roster should be getting blown out.
The mere fact that Melo single-handedly came within one possession from beating this Celtic team speaks wonders, and indictment at the same time.
Great players makes other better.
So give Melo his due..... he made everyone who played better.
Jared Jeffries shot 5-7, got 4 offensive boards and 2 blocks.
Anyone who can get him to do that is my MVP.
Melo all by himself had this team believing they can win.
Maybe I'm confused, but did anyone see the benches, the fans, players, and both team coaching staffs, while Melo was wrecking balling the Celtics???
